I have been playing through with my steppe prince, but unfortunately i've died. i've been trying to find all the charms and whatnot, but none of the migrating bear tribes i destroy (3 up to now) have the charm that they are meant to have.  it's put me off this mod a bit (otherwise it's probably the best i've ever played) and i've stopped playing recently, because it's so frustrating, and no fun at all.  i'd prefer it if your character just died completely.  is there some way to get round this?  what am i doing wrong?  this basically destroys the game for me.

The problem is that to get a chram you have to kill the tribe leader, BUT if you kill him (them, if there are more than 1) and the fight ends and you have to fight them again, you won't get the charm. Try to knock the leader unconscious and reduce their numbers to like 100 or less, then wait for the leaders to heal and then wipe them out in a single attack. That is the only sure way to get the fear charm.

Or just do what I do and load the game if you're dead. :)
Or, since you prefer the "just die" start a new character.

Oh! I just got a good idea! Chel should make the Bear Clan Leaders like Lords of other factions, so they'll be present in every single battle. That would eliminate this whole 'killing the leaders too early' thing. Maybe he should also do the same with Perished Ones...

But wouldn't that mean that you couldn't kill them? Then how are you supposed to get the charm in the first place?

You can steal things off unconscious lords, can't you?  Good idea :)

I do start again, but it doesn't really feel right like my guy is actually dead, you know?

I can understand the frustration. I am going to make it easier to get the charm of fear in the next version, and probably make it so that you do not always become fallen after death, sometimes its just THE END.

Maybe give the Eaters of Dead a very small chance for you to get the Charm of Fear. When I mean small chance I mean 0.5% or below. And to make players still go after the Migrating Bear Tribe you could make it so the Bear Clan Leader gives you a very high chance of the Charm of Fear. I should of probably posted this in the Suggestion/Impression thread. Oh, well.

  :(

No Chel, I believe the rest of us like to be guaranteed undead. Sometimes, I just die for fun, in order to play a couple of laugh battles with regeneration. Then I load the game to before I died.

But isn't the point of dying to make battles more immersing?  The current system just forces me to adopt a different playstyle when I "die" and given that this is a role-playing game, where I actually want to play as a particular character, it doesn't really make sense to do this.

If I fought all my battles with the thought that I could actually die, then I would get loads more satisfaction when I eventually became the ruler of a kingdom or whatever.  Obv.  this is a game so it should be a bit harder to die (like you get knocked out 60% of the time-ish) but yeah, when I die, I want to die properly and then wipe the slate clean.

maybe do like in Native Expansion and have options when you camp as to whether you want "real death" on or off...

Chel, I suggest you make a poll. Personaly I like undeath. Also many of the people that finished the quest for immortality in the last EG, they did so when dead.

my thoughts on un-death, each time I've died I grab a screeny (like a tombstone for the char) and then quit that game and roll up a new char. carrying on after death (although it may be cucklesome) is not what I personally enjoy about the mod, its the challenge of achieving things before I'm killed sometimes frustrating, (recently I was couch-lance killed by mounted bear warriors in a very easy 30+ Vs their 12... I led the charge and BAM! dead, but that's the way things go). But for when a characture matures or achieves things it makes it all the better.

Well my first char was a mounted archer leading Khergits i died preaty fast no armor + no ironflesh = rip...

Secound was hm a barbarian...hm i died in close combat and i obviously suck in combat still i dont get it how a drunker fisher man can kill me when im in plate? and when i try to kill someone with knife its imposible?:)

My third char is Old Knight with 30 INT 10 Pathfinding,10 Training,10 Spoting and 5 Leadership i just stay away from field and give orders and its fun at least im alive...and its good to be King :)

Even when pouring into 30 int it doesn't leave your character completely useless in combat. I've started my old knight back up and put my str to 21 for armors/skills. Got my ironflesh/power strike to 7 each and he's still a machine for killing. Currently pumping my int to 30 for the leadership/trainer 10. I'm not taking pathfinding/spotting because that's what borsha is for. Granted they have a trainer hero as well but he's a pain to level up, so having my main guy at higher level will be able to turn an army of recruits into an army of t3-t4 troops in a couple of days. Which when taking over the entire map, is a much needed thing.

My only concern is being capable of funding all of the troops needed for that type of take-over. I haven't done much experimenting with it but I tried it with 1 lord under me and it seemed to work. When I take over a castle/city and garrison it then give it to my lord I don't seem to have to pay for the troops inside the garrison. Is this correct?

Yes, when you turn over a castle to a lord, you don't pay for the garrisson, but you also lose them, while he gains them. Anyway, I would suggest more than one lords under you, since it helps to have them around guarding your property. When you need army, fast you take their settlements for a few mins, take whatever army you want from the garrison and return the castle back. You can have an army of 100 elites that way, although it would cost more than a fortune.

Also, I thought the Death Ward was extrememly hard to get (ive killed atleast 5 armies of dead, and than got bored of trying, so cheated to kill about 10 more, and still havn't gotten one...)
I know it is supposed to be rare, but seriously, it hard enough to kill just 1 dead army.

Still theres a bug when i defeat army of 100+ i get troophy of war maybe and battle troophy...when i kill 50+ i get epic most of time...something is wrong here im sure im not only one who noticed this...

Your right, i seem to get epic trophies from parties with around 50 soldiers (always seems to be pillaging bear clan tribes for me), and the other trophies from pretty much any other kind of party ...
