Are the servers down?

I have been trying to log on to play multiplayer all morning and at the server selection page it has been displaying the same servers with the same number of people all day....  and of course when I try to join them it locks up for a bit and says "Unable to connect"

anyone else having issues?

This is from the producer:

We are very sorry for this set back. We are experiencing a technical problem on the main game server and we are trying to sort it out with a specialist from the hosting provider.  At the moment, I cannot say when the server will be back online but we'll try to make it back online as soon as we can. Once again, I apologize for the problem.

I had no internet, no tv and no phone working for 24 hours last Sunday. I felt.... terrible at first, but the good thing, I went to bed at 10 pm for a change.

reminds me of a joke headline i read once where the internet goes down and the world is at its most productive because of it.
