Are shields still overpowered?

I quit this game about half a year ago because I was getting tired of fighting people who would hoard shields and just pull out another as soon as one was destroyed (this made it kinda unbalanced towards 2handers).

Has the game been balanced at all since then? I'm also interested in any general changes over the past 6 months or so.

I think the game is balanced, although many people don't think so.

Using more than 1 sheild gives you a huge speed decrease, plus 2handers don't have the break the sheild to get the kill.

In the past 6 months? hmm. Kick was nerfed a bit, 3 new maps were added (2 tdm-type maps and a seige map). Another one of the siege maps was modified.

For some reason I get a feeling that you ran away as soon as you realized shields were overpowered and now you are very cautiously sticking your head out from your hiding-place to ask a..a..are shields still overpowered?

Of course, that was just an initial impression from a fatigued mind, so I might be wrong. :lol:
 
They should be. Their whole strategy was based in shield walls.  They had strong shields. A bit smaller but more flexible and stronger than the average shield.
 
Ehehe, shields were never really overpowered. All you have to do is get a long weapon with bonus against shields and they'll be manually blocking in no time. Even the "forcefield" is fine, as without it, archers would reign supreme and the only useful shield would be the Rhodok one.
 
People complain that pretty much everything is overpowered, so I guess this game's balance is pretty much perfect.

Thats true^^

Recently there was another thread were the creator complained about the OP of archers. But how could archer even hit, if shields were OP? :wink:


There are many strategies and counters of them, you just have to find them out. For instance, I could easily kill shield carrieres with two handed weapon, because most player are not aware of a second attack after they blocked my first blow, and with the right footwork my second strike is still faster, then their counterattck.

That's a very good point. On the first page alone, there are numerous complaints about shields, twohanders, archers and cavalry all being overpowered. Which is weird, because if any of it was true, all the others would have to be false.
 
Hurr Hurr Shields hold no power thus they can't be overpowerd. hurr hurr

ontopic: The shields are fine, You can still manouver around shieldusers and give them a stab in the side. (happens to me when I'm not cautious)
 
While I do agree things are pretty much balanced. I do think some changes are in need. Personal I think they need to get rid of those silly shield force fields or at least turn them down a bit and to keep balance adjust ranged accuracy. Also it would help a lot in your character made some sort of noise when they are block stunned and different noises to to represent different levels of stun.

Anyway, I think everything is just fine as it is, a play all the troop types and I have really no complaint, people just need skill to overcome theyr enemys, not nerf other weapons to death....
