Are Participants Randomly Kicked During Tournaments?

I joined a tournament and noticed that all 16 of my companions were also in the fight. Considering that I edited them to be super, I was looking forward to the tournament. After the first fight, I noticed that only 5 companions were still participants. The fight was 2 teams of 8, and I know that only 6 of my companions were in the fight. So what I want to know is what happened to the others? Are random participants dropped after each fight?

Well, the number of participants drops to half each round you advance, so somebody has to leave.

I never understood how they determine who moves on.

If you're in the top 4 in a 2 on 2 match....and you and one guy from the other team are the only ones left....and he beats you....you get eliminated...despite being the second best.

Now of course you could claim that you weren't on the winning "team" so you don't move on. But other times your team does win and if you're knocked out....you don't move on then either.

*shrugs*

My favourite tournaments are the jousting ones.....1 on 1....I find the best strategy is to get off the horse, drop my lance, run up behind his horse, beat it to death and then kick him to death. Yay for tournies!

Still going through after being knocked out doesn't depend on whether your team wins or loses, or whether you're one of the last left standing. You personally need to have done well in the fight. I.e. if you manage to knock out a couple of opponents, you'll have a better chance of going through than if you didn't knock anyone out.

That's the thing. In the two on two I referred too....I squared off against 1 person....my partner squared off against the other (that's usually what happens two on two on foot....it devolved into two 1 on 1s and then the winners square off). I killed mine....my partner got killed by Kradus or Dranton...can't remember which. Then I got killed. But the person I killed moved on to the final....even though he/she did nothing except get beat by me and technically be on the winning team.

So it's not that. Though I agree in the earlier rounds if you do well, even if you're killed you may get a chance to move on despite being killed.

I never really questioned the process until that 4 on 4, where Kradus/Dranton had 2 kills, I had 1 and the other two people had none.

In a field of 64 in the first round you fight and its 4 teams of 8 thats only 32 people, the other 32 have their own 4 teams of 8 showdown to see who moves on. If you dont see all 16 of your companions in your side of the 32 they are in the other match and may have been knocked out or their team lost. How that other 32 person bracket is calculated? Who knows but probably as poorly as auto calc battles.

As for the 2 v 2 situation the winning team moves on. If you are paired with a hired blade against dranton and kradus for example. Hired blade gets knoked out and you take down dranton and kradus by yourself he moves on and you face the hired blade in the final because you won the round for your team.

Yes but in other situations being part of the winning team doesn't help you move on. I was in a team battle with two teams....and there were four of us left and one of them and I went in to finish the guy myself instead of letting my teammates do it, and got knocked out. I was eliminated. So the team explanation doesn't work either.

My best guess is that they don't really have a cohesive set of rules governing the entire tournament. And that's it's just sort of random until the final four or so when the winning team moves on in a team battle.

It doesnt apply to the player character only the npcs. The OP wanted to know why his companions were getting knocked out.

Its just like in a battle there could be 50 of your men and they only have 10 left you get a random arrow in the dome and get knocked out your soldiers dont finnish the battle for you. The fight should continue but in this game it doesnt, it auto calcs like an extra 30 seconds then you have to start again if you have enough health or auto calc the next skirmish.

That's why I said a better chance.

There are other variables involved there. In the situation you refer to, were all the fighters in that round of the tournament involved? I've also noticed that the named non-player-party characters seem to mostly get second chances, even if they're the first to be knocked out in the tournament. There may also be a random modifier. However, my observation is definitely that I'll be more likely to get through if I've done well.
