Are links in forums or for stickies broken?

The past two weeks on the site I've noticed that I cannot go to any of the links provided in topic threads.  For instance, this thread [http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,46290.0.html], all the links provided (like "1. Change to make cattle follow instead of run") I cannot access.  When I click on them my browser (both Chrome and Firefox), it alerts me that it cannot access the linked webpage; even if it's just to a sticky further in the thread.  I have to manually click on the page numbers to traverse through a multi-hundred page thread trying to find the topics listed.  This is just ONE example.  There have been other occurrences on other threads with the same problem.  Has there been a new update to the site that's been causing problems like this?

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  The forum listed I have used many times before without incident, so I'm stuck on as to what could be causing the problem.  I haven't downloaded any new programs or major updates prior to the problem; so I'm completely at a loss.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
White Falcon

I'm getting this too. It's not just links in general, but links to threads or specific posts on this forum. Clicking images for Warband mods in people's signatures for example take me to an ever-loading white screen.

If you look at the links on the thread not very successfully lank on the OP, you'll notice they all point at forums.taleworlds.net. Whereas the forum url ends in .com these days.

The easiest way to solve this for everyone would be to set forums.taleworlds.net to redirect to forums.taleworlds.com. Looking at whois data, they're still owned by the same registrar, so it should be doable. Either that or make .net point at the same IP as .com, which would make either link work.

Second option would be to run a sql script changing every occurrence of a link to the .net one to .com. Which, while time consuming, would solve it for good.

Third option (far easier than the second but not as good in the long run) would be to edit the forum post viewing php files, doing a string replace for every time the page is loaded. Upgrading the forum software would break that every time though.

So, doublecheck the links which fail to work for you and see if they have .com or .net on 'em. If it points at .com and still fails, do drop the links (to the posts with the non-working links) 'ere!

Just confirmed the .net to .com works.  Thank you; I don't suppose you have a link on how to auto make .net's to .com's specifically for the taleworlds site?

If you use Firefox, I'd say the best option would be to grab Redirector add-on and in its config click 'New redirect...' and add this in:

Lightweight, very quick and you won't even be able to tell it first tries to load the .net ('cause it won't )

I could also scribble up a greasemonkey script for it if necessary.

Thanks for noticing that. I have updated the ip addresses for .net domains too. It might take a couple of minutes to get all the dns servers updated though.

Edit: I did said couple of minutes but i really don't know when they are going to be updated. Be patient, they will be working again soon.
