are companion skills useless in caravan?

so i'm running 2 caravans, 1 with my companion that has 80 trade skill and 2 focus points in trade. the other is ran with my other companion that doesn't have any trade skills.

and CONSISTENTLY the second guy pulls in about 50%-100% more profit per day. I know all the trade skills amount to maybe 20% trade penalty with perks and everything but still it would ONLY make sense if the person with higher trade skill turned more profit right?

lol they are operating from the same city of Charas and often go in the same direction which is puzzling.

Also my caravans seem to get attacked by looters and bandits alot, when they are running at 6 speed (looters avg speed is probably 4-5), and my companion has 100 scouting which means they'll spot the looters earlier than being spotted, so how do they get caught in a fight like that?

There is currently a bug in the game affecting price of goods making it hard for trading players and caravans to make money. It has been confirmed by devs. This is causing caravans to make 0 coin.

In my previous saves pre patch 1.4.2 my trade companions would consistently make more money. Like double

but currently in 1.4.2 they all make the same 0 lol

yes i've read that 1.4.2 has this caravan bug. but this happened in my earlier playthrough in 1.4.1 when the caravan worked fine. but my trade companion consistantly made less money than my other

Not had any issues with trading profit not sure why. I got fed up with traders getting turned over by bandits and such and or replacing lost caravan guards with peasant units which has happened before.

I now use upgraded guards, and companions assigned to caravans have a little skill (50ish) scouting, tactics and medic.
