Appointing a Chamberlain

Greetings all,

When I became a vassal, I was given a village miles from anywhere that I had no intention of ever visiting or defending. Very soon after I was given the option to hire a Chamberlain, but I refused because I didn't want him hanging out in the middle of nowhere.

Now I have a nicely placed castle and have given the village back to the King. So my question is, what happens now? Will the option to appoint a Chamberlain appear again at some point, or have I messed up?

Nevermind. I just got married and found your spouse gives you the option to hire a Chamberlain.

Edit: I did not get a new chance... so i had to marrie...
