Anyone else miss Frontier?

Truth is, the community is not at the highest point right now it terms of friendliness and constructive gaming. But I hope that organized clans / regiments will contribute to create a more enjoyable server.

When I join and I don't see any Heart of Oak, I seriously consider disconnecting. I then check the list of names and if I don't see many legit games (not moronic obscenities) I don't even try to play.


Trolls have taken over the server, but we can fight them. I suggest trying to bring NW, RAW and other clan based communities. This is not going to happen spontaneously since unfortunately the mod has gained a bit of a bad reputation. We need "ambassadors", people who have played and are affiliated and lead communities within these other mods.

Injecting the cancer called NW community even further down our precious PF body? No way man.

The initial EU community was great. It just degraded as time passed, as most who came by just to check and have some fun lost interest. I'm starting to think the mod is just too shallow to host a persistent community.

What do you suggest ?

Nw might have its morons, but it is still a community with some interesting regiments.

Now PF has a serious lack of community. Proof is that there was an update and we lost half the playerbase (people who never check tales or any other forums, because let's face it the pf EU external forums are a ghost town).

Random thoughtful players leave the mod very quickly. I know because I did a very active recruiting job and a lot of them ended up in my lines; and now they never play. Coming in as an individual is the worst experience in PF, you need some sort of protective group. Joining factions doesn't really help, it is plagued with trolls. You come in to  a server alone odds are you will get harassed within the first 30 seconds. Outlaws will shoot you, your factions mates will steal your stuff and some indians will scalp you. For no particularly good reason.

Hence my suggestions, to try to bring organized communities over. Obvious targets are NW, RAW, the viking mods...


Otherwise, the community just degrades and when only the trolls are around, they will just leave. That's how you get a dead mod.

Not a clue honestly. I, for one, like the mod as it is, and it dazzles me why PW DOES have a remaining community and NW doesn't, while the two, in terms of concept are very much like one another.

It's just a shame, I mean, I really really enjoy the mod.

Just so y'all know, my map is OSP, so once, eventually, the server files are released, you'll be able to put Frontier back in the rotation, all fixed and whatnot.

Frontier is one of the best maps in my opinion, only it seems people with 32 bit can't download it.

I am most likely done with this mode. I was on vacation while the mod got fixed, so I was looking forward to play it again. As I joined, full of expectation, I got quickly disgusted by the new map (New England). New Spain, or however was the old map called, was a way better. This is just a plain forested field surroundered by mountains. What exactly made you think the map needs a change? It was a perfect map, including everything needed for playing unlike this... crap. And moreover, it didn't cause lags like this map does. Well, I guess I should find myself another mod to play, since this is unplayable.

We have the frontier, and we did not even run new spain for ages.

We need a new map, of course, and some people are already working on it. New spain and new england weren't good, IMO and nor were the plains.


But hopefully we are learning from the mistakes of previous maps and some progress is made.

I love new england, it's big and you have really a feeling you are there during a historic place but what's wrong with it?
