i recently started a new character, and it seems all im doing is travelling between towns to fight in the tournaments, and when there are no tournaments available i just go from town to town doing arena fights until a tournament shows up...

sure, sometimes i do get ambushed along the way by looters and whatnot, but i still mainly fight in tournaments... and im making a killing...

I did.

But I modified tournament mission templates in 0.960  to make them look a little bit more like a tournament and I plan to do the same with 1.003 when module system comes up.

In current Native 1.0003, no, I do not. They just aren't so fun. wearing t-shirts and poking with a blunt crossbow bolt? Lovely.

This is actually a brilliant idea, I'd like to expand on that play logic in Modplosion. Any ideas about that?

I'm thinking of those;

-Special Tournaments on specfic days, for example Khergith hold a special tournament at the begining Spring, Nords at the day they first arrived at Calradia.. etc.
-A manager to boost the income and fix matches (You fight with a Lord to lose the game, so he boosts his standing with people, you get lots of money but lose some honour and renown)
-Different fights then "Wack-a-100-mole" in regular games.

I guess that if you dont have an army or any expenses you'd be rich pretty quick, but when you are a marshall have a large army and a castle to protect there just isnt time. Love tournements in Uxhaul and Praven  and the nord ones. Hate the khergits tournements they suck.

Proud to be Swadian. My favorite tournament is in Praven. A pure knightly one. Just with jousting lances.

I easy to win tournaments when you can reload. It's hard at the beggining but when you reach level 15 its so easy. I won 20 so far. But I am planing to play a game with a realistic saving. Thats going to be much harder.

I can't afford to not play as a gladiator for the first 2 or 3 weeks of game time with every new character.  The money comes so easy fighting the tournaments that it's almost too good to pass up.

I use the arena at the start to train my combat skills. I don't make a career of it but I make some starting money.
And why should he hit Alt-F4?

it's a great way to earn money and renown. I attend all the tournaments I can when I'm not following a marshall. I'll even sneak into enemy cities to attend their tournaments.

i assume thats what the people do, who think theyre tough and choose "realistic no saves" but then wimp out when they get killed...

That's what I do. I make my living out of it. It's also funny to see some towns being acceptive of me even though I'm in full blown war with them.

Winning tournaments seems to be the best way to generate income for an army, since trading loot doesn't exactly add up the way it used to (why do caravans not have the 10+ units of oil and velvet like they used to?)

Hmmm that's a pretty good idea. Of course I rushed to do other stuff when the release came out and experience the game, but it seems if you don't align you could just spend a hell of a lot of time winning tournaments.

I'm guilty. (3 Forest bandits put arrows through my Kettle Helmet at the same time, no way am I going to concede that.)

It's how I spend the early part of the game ever since .950.

Same here, I used tournaments for cash and experience to start of with until I had some decent equipment for myself then I got an army together and went around raiding villages for cash and now I'm rich enough to just keep on following Halrus in his conquest of the Nords.

It just gets too easy to play as a glad. After a while, your focused attributes on strenghts and dexterity just make you win every time, unless there is some freakish accident, like an arrow (or) 2 directly in the head.
That kind of game looses interest quickly

Buy yeah, i've tried a bit.

Cheers

Sounds interesting, I'm going to test that today.

And I've always played on no saves.
Sometimes I'm down to just one enemy left and he kills me. That's when I get really fuc*ing angry and flail my arms and what not. But it adds to the game, I like a challenge.
But its strange how its always one of the last guys that gets in a lucky shot or blow.

Yeah, i usually travel around early game and do the tournaments and gather my companions.  Great way to outfit your buddies and yourself, then start worrying about an army.  I often hire some mercenary cavalry for protection (especially in Khergit areas).

As for losing tournaments... I personally think its great.  Too many games nowadays are spoonfed to us anyway so its good to see a game that'll kick your ass and make you like it.
