Anyone else hate to lose men?

no dent your not the only one, honestly im glad to see im not the wierd overly sentimental one.

I dont like seeing ANYONE die, partly because I cant stand watch somone die, and also because I feel responsible. If I can lower death, I try to, I dont want somone dead because of my incompitence.
I dont like killing opponents either, I show little mercy to say bandits, but when I imagine all the bodies that died simply because of foolish polotics, it's rather sad.

Troops exist to serve their master. That means they have to kill and they have to die for their master. I don't mind losing troops not at all. Call it Darwin's Law, survival of the fittest. If your strong enough to fight with me then your more then welcome.

Now am I going crazy, or is this an actual feature: I am convinced that lower tier troops will be killed more often, but higher tier troops get knocked out more. Im not complaining if this is a feature, because its brilliant and stops me having to replace as many top tiers.

I think, and this is but a mere guess. The amount of damage dealt to your troop which leads to his defeat affects if he will turn unconscious or dead. (Low damage + defeat = unconscious, high damage + defeat = dead). Though this also depends on your surgery skill and the weapon used by the enemy.

And about that Darwin's law thingy. I'm more referring to the equipment used by the troops. A huscarl with a Huscarl shield, battleaxe and throwing weapons will have a bigger chance of survival then a huscarl with just a two handed axe.

Personally, a huscarl with a 2h axe and no shield is a liability, so I agree with you there. I have also been known to 'accidentally' head shot some troops with ugly/useless equipment combos, if I am party size maxed out and have no castle to store them in.

Lol. Dont do that in the clan
Btw you suffer morale penalty if you shoot your own troop in Single Player, you'd better disband them (in the list of your troops, where you can upragde them), or even better do some big battle with them.

Regarding the % of deaths, I have also noticed that top-tier troops die less than recruits, seems logical to me, but as some point I had only top-tier troops so it became too easy.

In the mod I only ever really play for warband, The Eagle and the Radiant Sword, I'm like a Russian WW2 general or a WW1 general. Mass charges of conscripts and such. Hope their corpses way down my enemies enough for me to charge in and steal the glory.
