Any tips for using a controller?

I'm using an Xbox controller to play Bannerlord. I actually quit in frustration because I couldn't control individual unit types in battles.

It's only randomly coming across an old thread talking about holding down LB and pressing down on the d-pad to cycle through units that I learned how. There should be a more elegant solution, but whatever.

So, are there any other controller tips you may know that would make playing easier?

Why aren't you using a mouse & keyboard

A) because I prefer playing games with a controller

B) I have 2 herniated discs that made me give up sitting in a chair playing games with a mouse and keyboard.

There's absolutely nothing about this game that would make it "better" with a mouse and keyboard. They just seemingly kinda suck at making it work.
