Any suggestions?

I'm a mercenary company working for the Empire, I can only have 67 men and it is all based from taver mercenaries (I'm level 21) I just want to get into action but I see my army is too small for fighting some lords, I can only attack the small parties but still the mercs are not really good sometimes? any suggestion for a poor Pendor guy?.

Tavern mercenaries are expensive and (in my not-very-popular opinion) they suck. They cost 2x what a recruited cav costs, and they're not the best at what they do.

Since you're in Empire lands, recruit from the villages, and train infantry. Empire legionnaires are some of the best infantry, and their crossbows aren't bad.

Try to keep your party small, around 20 or so, and do your best to train those 20 to be awesome. Then, you have a very mobile force that can defend itself adequately. Almost every lord will have numbers advantage on you, so you need to win by having the best trained units for the money. Even with that, if you don't buy businesses in as many cities as possible, you will have a very hard time maintaining an army every week.

Depends on which kind of mercenaries you got hired. If you specialised in young nobles you should get a decent force of rogue knights and hero adventurers as they progress and if you stick to the exotic ones you´ll do as well. However, if you kept the regular mercenaries units it´s a waste of good money as they´re usually acting pitiful though a few Mercenary Horsemen can make a huge difference early game.

But you should start sticking to faction troops. Become a mercenary of the faction which has most wars going on and start to enjoy yourself.

So I should stick to the factions troops, problem is I'm tired of always levelling them up, it takes forever.

Which is the reason you may want to invest in the trainer skill of your PC and your NPC compansies.

There's no need at all to have ANY troops other than your companions early on.  I didn't start getting troops until level 23+ and only because I helped defeat a huge army with lots of awesome prisoners and I couldn't help but recruit them.  You can still help your faction as a merc without a huge army.  Just be nearby when large groups meet each other.  Lots of times, you'll see two lords come together in a fight, then the rest of the armies might go and join the battle.  Let's say you are Empire and are fighting against Sarelon.  The combined troop count is 800 Empire to 1200 Sarelon.  Now normally without you, Sarleon would win easily.  But because you can join a battle and freeze time (no other parties can join), you can help fight smaller battles one at a time.  For example, 200 Empire vs. 220 Sarelon.  All the other lords are running towards the battle, but if you join that battle before they can rush in, you'll fight 200 vs. 220 which is winable especially with you there killing 20+ enemies.  You can keep on doing this for as long as possible and often you are able to swing the tide your way, though sometimes the odds are too great or you have no health left and can't join the battle.

Perhaps the most important way you can influence and help out is to suggest to your marshall to attack when they've sieged a castle or town.  Way too often marshalls, especially bad ones, wait forever when they can just attack.  They might wait so long that the campaign ends before they ever attack.  Use your influence to get them to be aggressive and conquer.

That's a really good technique. If you can, try to use it to kite the enemy marshal into an engagement with your employer's army and pounce to engage him before he's reinforced. Capturing the marshal usually causes the entire opposing army to disperse, and with luck you'll be able to help friendly lords pick off the scattering enemies for a nice chunk of relation and renown.

With small party you can also kite the big spawn armies without getting caught up by patrols or party, for example snake cult and jatu are extremely fast, usually jatu sits at 5.6-.57 while snake cult at 5.3-5.4 which can be deadly if you got into gangbang range of the big army.
