Any possibility for a Sturgia buff?

i don't want to trade insult, normally I don't eject into pointless **** measurement, however you are clearly stupide on ask something you have no idea about to be buffed that will cause problem to the game balance which might lead to lasting dmg to the community.

abstracted concept is pointless, you should explain yourself why you get 10 point of dmg out of a 90+dmg axe, that is almost 90% of dmg reduction.
ok
I like the idea of sturgia having the strongest heavy inf while lacking in medium and low tier inf as well as in archer. Give them back heavy throwing weapons and we gucci
Throwing axes for varyag makes sense to me, maybe give them a separate one with a bit more damage? Varyag definitely needs some kind of buff to place them above vlandian sergeant imo.

We are working on the cavalry classes/perks right now. And we have some cool changes for the Raider (and others) in mind, outside of obvious balancing concerns.
I agree that the Hunter got a lot better with the archery changes. Look at that class like the mounted warrior for battania. There is no heavy version, but they kinda beat the other light classes of that troop type.
Hello, (regarding the captain mode) what about increasing the number of light cavalry in the squad? Because now they are not effective compared to heavy cavalry and therefore they are rarely chosen. Or maybe in some other way, but somehow, light cavalry get their unique role on the battlefield to be more attractive to choose from.
What do you think about this?

The Varyag is and always was one of the weaker heavy inf because of the ****ty weapons. With heavy throwing you mean throwing spear correct? Those new throwing axes wouldnt change anything.

Well I meant maybe give them back the old, hard hitting throwing axes. Fits the theme and places varyags as strongest heavy inf. Maybe you could switch some perks around to make the choices more interesting. But an ash throwing spear or heavy javs would work too

Look guys. We have 4 heavy inf classes in game. After 1.5.5 they all have one extra 1hd weapon as second perk.
Legionary has super fast OP heavy axe.
Sergeant and Oathsworn both have OK 1hd axes. That is good option to have 46-52 armor and fast enough axe with shield desctuction potential.
But Varyag as 2nd perk has only slowest 1hd sword in game... 89 swing speed...
For my point of view varyag can take a huge buff with one small 2 steps update.
Step 1. Replace 1st perk mace with any good throwings (heavy javelins for example).
Step 2. Replace 2nd perk sword with mace.
Correct me if i'm not right but this way we can take few viable varyag 'builds'
1. Improved armor + mace. Very tanky heavy with good damage. 92 swing speed mace better then standart heavy axe and ofc better then useless sword. Mace still slowest then sergeant's mace but varyag has much more armor in this scenario.
2. Javelins + mace. Not so tanky but very good heavy with ranged option, not bad shield and high damage mace.
3. Any 1st perk (armor, javs or even bastard axe) + spear or maybe stronger shield if you like it.

UPD: Yeah it sound almost like Huskarl 2.0 with good shield, high armor, long spear, ok 1hd weapon and pack of throwables
But I think it's not bad for inf focused faction without heavy archers, with not good cav and without strong medium inf.

The mounted warrior and hunter comparison doesn't work.
Ligh (or maybe medium?) cavalry still can avoid enemy cavalry attacks, can dueling, can capturing flags, can bump and back stabing, with barding battanian cav even have some tanky potential. Mounted warrior economy also good (2 cav spawns every rounds and 2 cav + 1 clan warrior spawn at max 380 gold).
Which of this option sturgian hunter has?
Archery dueling absolutely bad cuz hunter has very slow long bow and to weak short bow and hunter has very low armor. He lost any anti cav potential (cuz all archer lost it, only xbow still dangerous for cavalry). He useless as ranged support for inf fight cuz very slow bow.
Only idea that he has 3 spawns at 360 gold sounds good but what will you do if you meet vlandia with 120 gold xbows or any heavy archers who can one shot you and then shooting your teammates while you running from spawn?
Hunter buff made him directly stronger but didn't buff Sturgia at all. Mostly like without throwing axes sturgia now is weakest faction for skirmish.

I don't think heavy infantry should be balanced based on their throwing weapons. That would mean that there is only one valid perk choice for each class, which admittedly it already sort of is.

There needs to be some sweeping changes to either armor, stats or infantry mechanics to properly cement these units as the heavy beasts that they are.
