I've never played DoW over LAN, but I still wager HOI 2.

Uhhm I gotta try it sometime. But I'm more into games with more action. By what I've seen in youtube video this HOI 2 seems like Panzer General and Allied General I used to play in Playstation: train or recruit troops on a strategic map (to conquer key locations) and the battles are just a quick video or summary of the engagement?

Dungeon Keeper, it might be a bit old but it's very fun. Getting it to work on LAN is a bit of work for some, you need to enable ICP Protocol (Or something like that) on your router/broadband, there's a few ways to get it to work for dungeon keeper, some of them might not work for everyone though. Just google it, there's a few guides.

ICP wouldn't actually do anything, even assuming you had it on the router in the first place

It is, but I like that kind of games. Nothing beats making a Europe blitz with Germany, or crushing everything west of Moscow as the Soviet Union.

Yeah, I played LAN with my brother, us on the same teams against no one, we'd just conquer the custom maps (500 planets) defeat the pirates and then advance all the Economic things, great game.

I usually make defeating the pirates one of my goal in singleplayer games, since a friend of mine I played with is a handful when opposed in multiplayer.

Anyway, I read the best HOI 2 AAR ever, http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=383880

Inspired by it, I played on the similar settings LAN with the above mentioned friend. USA and GB (us), against Germany, 1936 DAIM scenario. My ****ing god. The modded AI is amazing. Despite our best efforts (mostly my friend's) Germany managed to conquer France, and immediately released it as Vichy France. To cut the story short, after conquering Spain, we made big landings there (almost my entire army) and then took the battle north-east to retake France. Anyway, we won in the end, since Germany went to war with Italy (!, because that's a bit strange for DAIM), and had to fight on the south too. A good game, although the German conquests (Poland was defeated by Germany a few months into the game) might have been caused by the fact that I'm not an insanely good HOI player.

Hmm.. I got Dawn of War still laying here, never played it over LAN.
So thats fun over LAN?

It is a very good game and I highly recommend it. Also, besides all criticism for the single player campaign and bugs, you could buy Soulstorm (standalone expansion) so you are going to have the Dark Eldar and Sisters of Battle, the latest released. Just download the official patches and play, I had hours of fun with it. In fact, I have all the expansions. To learn how to play faster you could download and watch replays that the players post at several sites (like this one: http://www.gamereplays.org/soulstorm/replays.php?game=43).
Eww  The unmodded game is terrible, and FoK (nor DoWXP AFAIK(irrelevant since the new devs ruined it)) is ported for it yet.

Uhhm maybe you played the first DOW with no expansions? It was very raw on multiplayer I agree (you could build as many turrets as you wanted, unlimited terminators and such) but with Dark Crusade and Soulstorm that changed. Anyway it is better to watch youtube videos, read reviews and such before buying.

When it comes out, Starcraft 2.

Oh wait, I forgot, Blizzard is retarded and opted to not provide LAN support.

Savage and Savage2.

Savage is a fun one to play with only a few people on LAN, but I like lots of people for Savage2 games. Both great games.

Yep, when I saw the news that they would not provide LAN I allmost cried.
This could be one of the best LAN games ever, a legend on LAN's like CS and WC3.

But nooooo... "We wantz them to run on our survurz so zhey cant haxx!"

Personally, I was gutted when they said they'd release the game. LAN support is pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
