Another stupid idea

The random terrain generator is fantastic, and the terrain has a very real impact on how battles play out. Currently, you are just thrown into the landscape without any idea where the enemy is, or what kind of terrain you're up against, which feels kind of rushed. In reality, you're not just teleported into a foreign environment. I would like to be able to plan out my attack and exploit the rich variation in terrain by being able to survey the battlefield before the fight starts. Maybe at the beginning battle screen, give an option for this which will show you an overview of the map, with the starting points for each side clearly marked.

I think this would add a lot of good strategy to the game. What do you think?
