Annoyance: Please STOP autosaving AFTER fights!

In absolutely no situation I can think of is autosaving AFTER a fight actually useful. Usually when you load an autosave it's because you'd like to try the battle you just fought again, with a different approach. By autosaving after fights, you render the autosave feature borderline useless and force the player to use manual saves when they need to savescum something.

At least, at LEAST use a rotating autosave with 3 files similar to Paradox games. Using a 1 save autosave that saves after fights makes the feature literally useless and removes the entire point of autosaves.

The last save for an autosave should ALWAYS be BEFORE the most recent outcome, NEVER after.

The only situation I can think of where this would actually be useful is as a quasi ironman feature, but you definitely don't want ironman mode to be the default feature in an early access game!

Two solutions here

1: rotating autosaves
2: save before fights, and not after.

Those are your options. Any other option is instant critical design fail.
 
They already promised more autosave slots.
I mean, realistic settings made it so that you couldn't save scum in warband, so I'm not sure if they'll do the same for bannerlord.

No problem with "no savescumming" mode, but it should not be the default. Rotating autosaves would be an acceptable counter
 
Well the "realistic" mode in Warband was less annoying than this.
That was more like an ironman mode, this forced-auto-save is more like a ****-you-mode.
 
I don't see the problem. Game is much better and more interesting when you don't win every encounter every time. You can manually save before a battle or important moment if you want to scum it takes 2 second. It auto saves after any scene changing too i believe not just battle
 
Saving after battle is good if you crash very soon after the battle and forgot to save urself. Re fighting a 15min battle is sometimes annoying, even more so if you did particularly well and then crashed

It will be even more interesting if losing a fight wouldn't mean total annihilation. A retreat within certain conditions even if you accepted the battle should be a feature.

Why should it be a feature ? If you and your men were just obliterated and the enemy is all over you, I don't really see you retreating successfully. If you don't want to take a fight, try to get away.
 
I sure love saving after fights tho. If I crash, I dont wanna have to fight the same battle all over again. If you want to try again in a battle, press F5 before actually getting in the battle.

There's no reason to not auto-save after a battle, that's how it should be like. Once it's done, it's done.
 
Gonna have to agree with the majority here. If you wanna save scum a fight, do it before the fight. Auto save after a fight keeps you from having to fight a fight again.
 
Ye I think the OP is biased, it was frustrating at first when it saved after every fight, but my thinking was that this was done so it had an rpg type element. It just taught me to save before taking any serious action. I dont mind the way it currently is. It forces me to be smart about what I do and when I save.

It's literally just a waste of everyone's time. Like MOST of the new "features."
 
It takes like 3 seconds to save before a big fight if you want to save scum.

You're just asking for trouble if you don't save often in an early access game with crashes and bugs.

You don't always know if you need to save scum a fight.

This is particularly annoying with the state of Hideout fights, which if I'm being honest is what prompted this thread.

You dont need to know. Just save it before fights if you want to go safe.
 
The fact that you can work around a bad feature doesn't mean it's not a bad feature.

So much this.
I mean can we not all agree than you can walk around with dog crap on your shoes.... but it would be better for it not to be there?

Or just have a feature that's more flexible and doesn't cater solely to hardcore players?

All I'm asking for is the autosave to do what autosaving does in literally every game ever. Move you back in time a little so you can try something again if you're not happy with the outcome. That's a really important feature especially a few weeks into early access when we're all still learning things
