Hi guys,

Just a wee announcement to let you know that Armagan & I have decided to end our collaboration on the graphics. It all started over a beer, then another, then we had a fight over a girl, now we're not talking...

Seriously though - Armagan's decided (and I totally agree) that he needs to find local graphics artists for the project. Especially in these early stages Armagan and Ipek really should be looking over the shoulder of everything to make sure it's exactly what they want and exactly what they need. I've done quite a good deal of work that I'm sure you'll notice filtering into later versions - but I think Armagan's time and money would be better spent on a local team - this will not least speed up productivity too - meaning a finished article sooner for you guys. I've always had local commitments preventing full-time commitment and a game with this much potential deserves as many man hours as possible!

All your helpful comments and posts will of course be invaluable to any new development team and it's very useful that they've been preserved in this forum to enable them to 'catch up' - I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the excellent suggestions, references and ideas that you've provided - rest assured I know many of them are already being put into action.

I'll certainly continue watching the progress of this game - and I'll definitely be playing the finished article! I'm also keen to support Armagan with the production of the game from a forumite perspective - I was pondering starting a unit editor - but it appears that it is already in very capable hands!

I'll be looking to make any little programs that might help this project continue to grow in popularity - I think there might be scope for a texturing tool to keep things easy - but I'll wait and see.

Let's keep the show on the road and hopefully Armagan's local development team will really be able to boom the project onwards!

And if any of you need some models for mods, well just ask nicely...

Bummer, I was definately looking forward to all the great structures you've been making. And you really got the community thinking and helping you find sources for material.

Maybe it'll work out, I hope so!

A shame. I read something similar in a dev journal for Deus Ex: it's just a pain to have your artwork done remotely. You'd think that in this day and age it wouldn't be an issue, with streaming audio/video or whatever, but c'est la vie.

As long as those locals get at it right away.

Well, I trust Armagan will know what is easiest and best for the development.

Indeed, it's a shame

I do hope this won't put you off the game though, your a G-G-GREAT member of the community (and useful too)

I have to say cheers to your willingness to give it a wholehearted try.

I hope that you realize that you have helped this game out in more than just some textures or models that may appear by simply getting the communities imagination going. We are all excited about the possibilities that you have shown us.

Good do.

A shame indeed. Never the less I look foward to seeing more things from you in mods and other kinds of projects.

I really hope you stick around, when mod tools come out there will be a lot of stuff to do i'm sure.

I'm going to pin this btw. A small sign of respect from me to you.

I would like to thank Alpha and his girlfriend -Katie- for their great artwork and contribution to the game. As you know, we are very new in game development, and we are really learning it as we go along. And one important thing we have learned in these past weeks is how important communication is to artwork creation. Even with the internet and such, collaborating on game art proved to be such a challange. Communication was not one of my strong skills to begin with and being limited to emails made it so much more difficult. It is truly a pity in this case since alphabeta77 was not only very skilled but also really enthusiastic for working on the game.

Anyway, at least we will still have alpha around and he'll still be aiding the game -albeit less directly. And who knows, maybe we'll have the chance to work together under better conditions some day

Thanks for all the kind words guys!

Cataphract: Yeah, that was the problem. I tried to send Armagan a beer and it got spilt by his router and leaked in his modem... And if you think that's bad you should see what happened when he sent a chick through the modem... she was a mess when she arrived.

I'll certainly be around - I'm currently waiting to see what Armagan throws out with these mod tools - I think there's plenty of scope for graphical enhancements from the whole community - as many of you have already shown - and it does impress me how quick you are at decoding the game files! I'm going to try and help Armagan with editors, mod tutorials etc - it'll be far easier to work that way and take the game forward.

Let's wait and see what happens.

I'm sure we won't be disappointed!

Hopefully Alphabeta's work will not be in vain. How much will be kept?

It surely won't. I havbe added some of it already. We'll be adding the rest in time.

I'm curious: Alphabeta mentioned that the buildings were modular and could be stacked on top of eachother/rearranged. Is this format still being kept?

Glad to hear that theres no anger amongst you two, I've seen alot of things go downhill that way.
