Announcement: Development (no longer) Halted

Yes, it's been halted for quite a while, but this is the formal announcement.

Janus has talked me into not deleting this account, and so apparently I'm still the moderator of this board; however, work will no longer be done by me, and so I doubt any further work will be done at all at any time in the foreseeable future, as I am departing this forum permanently. If any further work is to be done, it will be done by the people to whom I have entrusted the source code. They may dispense with it as they see fit.

It was a blast to have you here Merc, I've always enjoyed this subforum a lot, and that's in no small part because of you.

Thanks for giving the source code to some modders you know, I hope they will continue working on the best and most polished M&B mod to make it even better!

Girl, I'm shocked!


You know, I tried all the other "great" Mods here, from TEARC to Sword of Damocles, and I didn't play any of them longer than the first tryout with cheats. (In fact, I even hated expanded gameplay III  ). Once you play this mod, you will miss the kingdom managment features, the ranged weapons balance, the rebalanced horses, formations, braced spears, shield bash, city and village upgrades, specialized troops, overpowered Dark Knights and lesbian NPCs. (Gosh I LOVE them  ).

With this thread, a little bit of the things I am looking forward to in my life*, died. And it hurts badly.

*: e.G. meeting the "right" woman, completing my studies, moving into my own place, buying a VW Golf GTI, watching my son beating all the teeth out of the mouth of another kid steeling his shovel, having sex in a church and on a treetop, and downloading the next update for NE.

It's sad that you're leaving; we'll miss you around here.

On the plus side, I'm glad that your account is still active; we'll keep you a place on the couch in case you ever decide to come back (though you'll have to share daumor's popcorn). Maybe you'll rediscover the urge to start modding again at some future date. But que sera sera etc.

This is really bad news.was really looking forward to new version and maybe warband when ever that comes out.  But i do wish you well to where you go from here.

Considering it hasn't been touched for several months and considering I'm still playing it and considering people are still downloading it then coming on the board to ask how to install the texture pack, suggests to me this is still one awesome mod. I've already PMed you Merc, I hope you read it, suffice to say we're all very grateful for this mod, (including my mate who downloaded it on my advice a few months ago then spent an afternoon telling me how gobsmacked he was when the DKs attacked.)

To say it's Ronseal would be the best compliment I could give this mod, in that it does exactly what it says on the tin; takes a great little game and opens it up into an excellent experience.

Well, that's exactly what she wrote. And then there is the part with the source.
As far as I know, however, it will take "some" time until there will be someone working with the source again. Seeing as that's what was agreed upon. But maybe the guy with the new found mod power can enlighten us further

Especially since Jinnai is missing for so long now. But hey, you never know.
I for one, would like to see a Warband compatible version with an option to toggle formations on/off. Then again, Warband will offer a good bunch of the stuff NE is about. We'll see I guess.

The last thing I was told is that nothing will happen for at least a few weeks. Till daumor is back online, maybe wait a few weeks to give Jinnai some more time to show up again, how unlikely that may be.

And as I wrote above. there's Warband looming in the near future, offering a good chunk of the stuff NE was about.

I forgot. I think the new authorities aound here are Josef and Pellagus, so they should be able to give you a much better answer than little me.

I actually hate popcorn so you can have it all. I haven't the code, and haven't the time to do anything with it atm, soo.. I told her that I'd ask one of you guys later. Whatever you guys do with the mod, I'd support, as I'm sure you'll take appropriate care of the mod.

Well I am just home for the holidays, not for good. I'll be digging sand out of my nether regions by the end of January. If i can get a solid internet connection in country and my wife doesn't monopolize my time over skype I may try to do something with the source (if i get my hands on it) but it all remains to be seem.
