And in Afghanistan....

Well Tralfaz, I actually don't know how to respond to that. On the one hand, I agree with the principle. On the other, we're taught from birth that it's a terrible terrible thing.

But like Dame said, it comes down to what the kids think. I've never been fond of the arbitrary age of consent laws - You're ready when you're ready, and if that happens to be 15 why should you have to wait a year for the magic number before you can tap someone without 'em getting sent down.

Oh, I saw that bit, and yeah, they dont know **** about women, but the post was kinda long, and I didnt want it to be too long.

Depnds on what those boys get out of it.  Seems common, accepted, Id say to educate them about women, but not to tell them to stay away from the boys.  Sounds wierd, I know, but as I said, if they arent being forced into it/abused(no, I DONT count it as "inherently abusive"), and they seem to understand whats going on, I really dont see much of problem.

Well, yes, of course.

Though "what the boys get out of it" could lead to dark things. You know, the "I'm starving, but this old man will give me a home if I let him put it in my butt whenever he wants," thing. Personally I find that to be forcing, of sorts.

See that, folks? DAME WANTS CHILDREN IN AFSTANIGHAN TO GO HUNGRY

HOW DO THEY HUNGRY IF THEYRE BEING FED ALL THOSE COCKS!?

Seriously though, thats not really "forced" Dame, thats necessity, doing something youd likely not normally do, like someone who steals food for themselves or a family.  They might not normally do that, but necessity requires it.

It's considered necessary to allow yourself to be taken advantage of sexually so you can eat? I mean, I wonder how many of these boys actually want to, but what they want isn't considered, because they just HAVE to, or else.

Stealing food is one thing. Selling yourself is another. And no I don't mean prostitution, I mean as a sex slave.

Man, I don't want to continue my studies but if I don't I don't get money from the government and I'd starve! The government is abusing me maaan!

Problem is, as an adult or teen you have options, and can be considered more responsible in your choice, having the ability to weigh consequences and such.
As a child, you see a solution and go for it, whether you want to or not, because you're not aware of what else to do. Kind of like how children will cling to parents they know to not be reliable, but they're not aware of alternatives or even have any.

We are taught to sell ourselves from a young age. It's how we get a job for example. But I don't think you're getting the point  (I know you're joking.)

For the record, the Bible only says women are unclean for seven days after they menstruate.  The rest of the time you can do whatever you want with them.

Such as throw stones at them when they don't scream loud enough when being raped. Oh what else did the bible say?

Sociologists and anthropologists say the problem results from perverse interpretation of Islamic law...Fundamentalist imams, exaggerating a biblical passage on menstruation, teach that women are "unclean" and therefore distasteful.
I'm agreeing with the article, silly goose.

I think they meant the Quran for that one. But the Quran's opinion on such a thing does reflect the Bible's, so.

Guess I got a bit too overly aggressive. Oops.

Anyone see the documentary about this not too long ago? It was called The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan or something to that effect, and it was all about this. It seemed like this whole ideology is pretty extensive, with trading rings and shows to demonstrate a certain boys talents as a dancer as well as academies for young boys to learn how to dance and sing for the men. They focused on one child who had been sold by his parents to a ring leader because they couldn't eat otherwise, and because it was a better life for him regardless of what it entailed.

It's not all terrible either, they showed several men who treated the boys extremely well and the boys themselves were happy to live that way, so it's a mixed bag. You can bet that for every one treated well though there are far more treated badly.

That's the problem.
Plus, this is a society which holds onto ancient ideas of children being more property than people.

Squeak.

True that it's morality forcing, but read the rest of the article. There's something that needs to be done about their complete stupidity.
Also it implies these boys don't choose this way of life, but I'm not certain of that. I'm sure some don't like it, though. What 9 year old wants it in the ass?

It'll be really funny when some Pashtun guy tries to feel up some Marine.....

But the funny thing is the bit about "It ain't homo, we don't love them, just screw them."

Apparently there was an afghan woman that came into a coalition medical base beaten half to death because she hadn't gotten pregnant. They examined her and found she was a virgin.
PS:
Citation?

Got this from a guy who was serving in the Rockpile.

Um.... You really are ignorant about biblical law aren't you?
Many laws seem nonsensical or puritanical today, but have perfectly valid reasons beyond "God said so" if that's not enough for you.
