Ok so I'm well into the game playing mostly as a Swadian faction. I managed to start my own kingdom and grab 2 castles and a town before almost getting overrun by the nords. I made Nizar a lord and then the marshal just so I wouldn't have to have it, and eventually I exiled him because he just kinda annoys me. Now the castle and town I gave him are still in my faction but aren't mine. Now I can garrison as many troops as I want in the castle and they cost no wages. I've made a habit of just leaving the vast majority of my party in the castle and waiting until I actually spot someone to pull them out. heheh certainly made things a lot more easy and for once my land is actually turning a profit.
