WIll it be possibel to ambush caravans/villagers/armies as ambushes in forests?

At this time i am running a small band on foot but everything avoid me and cant run it up (4.8-5.1 Run speed)

I know mounts can top at 8.2 so easy for mounted people to run caravans up.

But people on foot got 0 chance. Unless some sort of ambush perk gets implanted int example the scout/rogue three or just gets a bigger chance to hide the more you run around in the woods.

This is a small example of a perfect ambush - Forst near bridge.

I got horses in my inv. ANd no ^^ i need it to be equipped if im going to run at 8+ speed

But that will ruin my RPG mode  dislike using horses/camels

I really hope ambushes will be possible in the future. Medieval warfare without them is missing a lot in my oppinion. Rogue skill is underused anyway.
Problem is there are no roads or paths that the AI is more likely to use. So even with the mechanic it would be quite difficult to perform an ambush.

I think devs should add temporary (1-2 seconds) speed penalty for changing group direction (on campaign map) depending on angle between current and desired direction (for example -2.0 speed if u were to retreat at 180° angle).

This way ambushes would be possible and smart route planning would become more important in some areas on campaign map.

Could work  redicules that someone can turn 180% and maintain the same speed. so could be cool with a 1-2 sec speeed penaly for turning 90/180 degress

BTW does an of your skills/party size/soldier skills/movement speed/ect. affect from how far enemies can see you? Or is it just about enemy scouting skill?

Maybe it's as easy as adding all those variables to the formula, with special emphasis on current movement speed and terrain type.

Another thing could be temporary (1-2s) speed bonus (+2) after waiting a bit on the map (2-4s).

100% agree with ambushes. Allow guerilla warfare, smaller armies defeating more powerful ones with ambushes. Troop placement prior to battle for a bushing side. An ambush is even a huge part of the main storyline.

+1 OP
Seems like something really missing from the actual version of the game.
But like it was said, without roads, ambush are hasardous.

I think ambushes should become a thing but making sure that they are not OP or super common and that the AI can do them aswell. The problem though is that people will complain about how out of nowhere they just lost everything. And if people are able to just ambush whenever then it almost gets rid of the downside of a slow army. You need to think about the downsides when suggesting something.

You can create some rules that follow the ambush to prevent some downside.
Example : 1 ambush per day...it would not be an abuse and seems logical at the same time...

I think you can always look at reallity and think "What did they do in reality to prevent getting ambushed."
Would be nice if you could send scouts forward. Click on the map and you move there. Shift click on the map and you send a scout there. Wanted to be able to do this anyway. As long as scouts are on the way your movement speed should be slightly reduced. So there is a reason to not always do that.

Yeah that would be cool. But i'm worried that the main map might become to complex or confusing for new players. You need you have a cap of complexity on basic stuff like moving on the main map.

To be honest i really think the game could use some complexity right now. Your constantly grinding. Hunting bandits and lords. In my opinion there is no complexity at the moment.

Exactly what i thought...in my opinion the map is pretty simple at the moment...even for the "new player" or those who fear the complexity.
The game need some depth and the "ambush idea" could be one of them in my opinion.
