I hope the ambush perks are nothing to do with bandit lairs.

I'm afraid you are right, either this or they forgot to remove these assets after they ditched the feature.

But as i remember the ambush perks did not exists in gamescom 2018 demo, so why would they add them after they removed the feature.

But if it is about "ambushing" bandit layers, why do we also get a skill to prevent us from being ambushed succesfully?

Where would it apply to the player being ambushed?

Either they forgot to remove some files, or, as someone said, it has not been there at ganescom 2018 and now it is, so we have the feature !

Why would a set of perks exist for that, though? I'd much rather expect it to be related with bandits ambushing player on the city streets (maybe setting those on others would be one of 'criminal activities' we've heard about but not really learnt anything about), than a flavour text for bandit lairs.

This also makes sence..... i hope this is not the case though. The ambushing feature is too good to be wasted on some criminals in towns.

It would provide so much depth ....

What's avoiding ambush perk than? I tought there are locations in map (rocky areas, forests) where parties can set ambushes. I hope TW selected their wording clearly, cause ambush wording clearly refers to a mechanic. What was the wording for getting trapped by bandits in towns in Warband? Was it ambush?

Devs said they got rid of auto-generated battlemaps in favour of custom made, tailored maps all over Calradia ( i hope there are many of them or it will quickly become stale), so if you fight in one area (dont know exact square sizes on the map) more than once, you will fight on the same battlefield, thus you will be fammiliar with the terrain and have more chances of winning (like IRL).

That being said, simmilar mechanic could be used for making "ambush spots" on the map, which i think is what has really happened. Maybe they first tied ambush spots to those custom mada maps of that area, but a they saw those maps were not good for ambush, maybe they just left it for later, or they did nit intend to make the feature up until they cought up with being late on some basic core of the game.

I like to believe they finnished everything sooner than they expected ( not us ? ), so they reworked it and made it possible.

I would really like to hear someone from the dev team confirm or deny this !

Please don't get your hopes up. Things can change quite drastically before the EA. Seeing it written in the perks tree is certainly not a Confirmation that it is in the final game. All it is, is a confirmation that it was worked on at some point and might still be worked on currently. And that, we already knew.

Some here may laugh, but i actually dont consider Taleworlds to be that sloppy

To be fair on that point, "speed of building castles and walls" could be referring to upgrading them.

That, and maybe also the speed of building other buildings in the castles such as stables, armory etc, cant remember all the building we can build, but there are like a dozen of them....

The perks and skills you see in this video are in no way final so you should expect to see a lot of changes here by the time early access launches.

Well, this does not sound well for ambushes . . .  :ohdear:

It's almost like they target the most optimistic and loyal users and proceed to crush their spirits.

Don't let them break you Piconi! It's too late for Terco and I.

As a TW forum member, veteran of the utmost loyal Taleworlds community proud owner of M&B Warband, skilled in-game archer and rider, having spent hundreds and hundreds of hours in both singleplayer and multiplayer, i pledge myself to the sacred goal of making developers of this beloved, not yet released game, to introduce the AMBUSH system to the game, i will not yield, i shall make it happen, from this day, until my last day ?

Startiiiiiing now:

Total war series have really interesting concept that make ambushes work quite well in their games.
As for the grand map overview TW could prevent ambush spam by AI by doing next:
Making the ambush "stance", or "make ambush" decision when you stop, same like "read a book" or "make camp" and others that already exist in WB, possible only in FORREST areas.

That is easily achievable as there is already a "party slowing down" in forest areas in Warband. Same areas where you party slows down can be used to mark area where anybody is able to make an ambush.

Next they can make a "pre battle troop placement" only for the ambushers, while the ambushees are caught off guard by making their troops spawn on the battlefield disorganised and all unit types mixed up as oposed to already placed ambush troops VERY close to them.

As Battania is already my favourite faction, and for the reasons i mentioned in my previous post that i requoted just now, i believe they should have some sort of advantage in these scenarios, like dense forests all arround their faction and between their cities, their army NOT slowed down by forest areas and/or inability to ambush a party that is part of Battania faction.

Creating a successful ambush by remaining invisible on the map should be related to path-finding skill, as should ability to see an ambush before you fall in their trap be related to spotting skill.

It is maybe a dream, but a beautiful one and i will not yield ! ?

Battanian faction really makes no sence if they dont add ambush system. Why would they even mention it if they are removing it, or not adding at the first place ?

Battania is perfectly constructed for those kind of mechanics.
TW has most obviously found inspiration for that faction in early germanic tribes and celts that were most famous for their ambushes agains Rome (Teuteborg forest for example) and it would be their only advantage, besides superior numbers.

Without the ambush system, and/or some kind of increased multiplier for number of recruits you can gather in Battanian villages and towns (say 1.5x-2.5x more men), Battanians are doomed with their inferior armor, unfavorable faction position and lesser number of holdings.
