Ambush and stealth on the map?

Just a wild idea: add the stealth mode on the map and the ability to set ambushes for other parties.

Movement in stealth mode should be considerably slower but the party will be less likely to be seen by others. Vaegir, swadian and manhunter faction units might pay extra attention to stealthing units and become suspicious.

Standing in stealth mode will prepare an ambush. The longer a party is sitting in an ambush, the more effective it becomes. When the party starts moving from an ambush, other parties will not be able to detect it for some time. When an ambush is successful, the ambushing party should get a considerable boost to tactical advantage in the first round of the battle.

Of course non-player parties might use the ambush tactics too, especially against player.

Success of an ambush can be made dependent on some game skill. Tracking is the prime candidate since it doesn't seem to be very useful at present moment (at least as far as I can tell).

Hey Lav,

Great to see you posting your ideas and suggestions as to what could make this game better. Unfortunately, very similar suggestions have been posted on quite a few occasions.

I know the search feature on this forum is somewhat lacking, but would you search for your ideas there, please. If you cannot find a thread regarding your topic ... feel free to browse the thread (sticky thread at top of this area) that Ingolifs created, ***Frequent Suggestion Answering Form.***. If after looking in those two places and not finding one, then start a new thread.

Thanks,

Narcissus

great idea, although I would propose a strict upward limit on how effective an ambush can become over time.

I still think that you should be able to build MINOR defences if you wait in one place. Do remember that your enemies travel for an hour or two to meet you. a few rows of sharpened poles and such never harmed anyone. Well, they have, but still.
