B Other Ambient Anti-Soundtrack 2.1 [released for 1.0xx)

Users who are viewing this thread

That's how i would like it to be, but module system isn't working for me, so I can't make the needed music.txt file.
Anyone willing to help out are welcome to make - and send me - a music.txt for the mod, and I'll re-upload the soundtrack with it
(at least, that's how I think it would work).

Just for fun: Siege Neutral Chill Out Mix

Hrm, I got the sound to work for all of my mods.

By putting it in the M&B folder or in each mod's music folder?

Edit : I found out how to put it in mods

Thanks to Ruthven to post a link to http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,50101.msg1300258.html#msg1300258 which is a tutorial on how to make the mod reads music from the mod's music folder using python made by Thymo
I put in the main music folder, after I made a backup, and it works for all my mods.

Ah, OK then yeah I dont really know.

Thanks to MrRoy a version 2.1 is up:
https://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?cid=10&id=1085
NOTICE: Only technical changes - no changes to the sound files!

- Added a 'music.txt' file so the soundtrack can be installed in a single mod instead of replacing the original soundtrack.
- Added a 'module_music' python file for modders.

@ Leggeron: I'm honored

 Nice.

The music being poor is due to my feeble skills at composing
- plus, it doesn't sound that professional (although it's intentionally simple).

If some were interested, I had been thinking about an all ambient soundtrack - without the music.
But it's a lot of work, so I'm still thinking. Besides I do like some of the tunes,
especially when sneaking into towns and getting captured...

It's starting to grow on me anyway.  Some of the music I like.  The ones that I don't so much is mainly due to the sound, not the composition.  A bit too much reverb etc.  But that's just personal taste.
The whole thing is a huge improvement to immersion, awesome job.

I love the idea / music but I dislike the synths... they'r out of their place
if you got a chance to turn them into drums  , flutes that kinda stuff would be alot nicer ^_^

Yes, there are a few synths, usually at the beginning of battles. They only last a few seconds and could easily be edited out.
So far you're the only one who's complained about them, so I'll consider it.

About drums: I literally have 100's of megabites of drum samples/loops, but none sound medieval. I like the idea though.
I don't think anyone would like some big beat hip hop loops or crisp jazz snares

Nice idea.  I've wanted something like this for a while - should've checked it out sooner.  Downloading now.  Especially like the idea of ambient tavern sounds - the Native tunes in taverns are good and all, but they don't sound like they're being played in the tavern, and they're also a bit, well, wussy for a tavern.  Clinking bottles and glasses, and hopefully shouts and laughter, is much better and more realistic - clinking classes is possibly me favourite sound on earth.

I was thinking something similar for Gangs of Glasgow (GoG). You could make a soundtrack of different city noise - like the samples I sent you - or let me do it for you
It really ads a WHOLE lot to the atmosphere - especially in GoG, since the native soundtrack is so out of place there.

If it wasn't for all the tunes some of this soundtrack could also fit into GoG, sounds of wind and birds (if they've survived the smog in Glasgow  ) etc.
Feel free to use any of the tracks and let me know if you're interested in the tavern soundeffects (without the silly flute).

I did use some of the sounds you sent to replace the tunes in towns and some of the travelling, but I didn't do it wholesale enough to completely take out Native music.  If you could make me up a music folder of ambient city tracks (the funnier the better - shouting, swearing, distant car crashes, shiity music in the distance, etc. but not too loud) I would definitely use it in any future update of GoG.  I just rename the tracks I'm using to have the same name as Native ones, so that I don't have to muck about in modules_music.  If you could do that with every track replaced, keeping it as small as possible in file size, I'd be well chuffed.  And tavern/pub sounds would be ace.  I think I'm going to try adding "live" bands and dancing girls to some of the pubs.

BTW, did you notice Glasgow Theme at the startup page?  Hehe.  That was nice work, Adorno.

Great, I'll give it a go and see what soundeffects I can get a hold of. It  will obviously take some time though.
I'll simply call the tracks by their native names to show when they should be played.
The Glasgow Theme is spot on - really daft

And now we should probably take this chat to the GoG thread... See ya!

Sorry, but I had to LOL

Good work. I would like one without any music. Maybe put some unintelligible background conversation in the streets and especially in the tavern.
