I don't know if the engine supports set spears or if there is any way to make it support that.  It's been brought up before and never gone anywhere.

Charging spears with cavalry should be suicide for the horses.  That's one of the distortions that has been a problem for M&B all along and why cavalry are generally better in every way rather than just situational.
.
Sorry this is kinda offtopic, but another reason that cavalry are unbalanced (in multiplayer at least) is how they can reload rifles at normal speed on horseback while the infantry have to stand still, as if the horse wasnt enough.

On topic: This braveheart thing is what i have wanted since i first played original Mount and Blade, so im glad to see you will be putting it in later
this musket reloading is indeed kinda stupid. Especially since i sometimes catch my (SP) troops reloading their rifle while moving to another position. Why can they do it while i can't?

You can reload while moving in the latest patch.

Pike bracing is a must, I was hoping the game would be released with it, it kind of makes pike and shot tactics not work if the horses just ride over the pikemen! What I would like to see is more control over formation, so you can have pike blocks, as opposed to just a battlefield long line of them!

does this crouching while having a lance have any special effect? my enemy pikemen all do it and it looks like it is a bit harder to ride through but don't realy know if this is realy the case

This has been mentioned earlier, but I'll reiterate here as it hasn't emerged in this rendition of the discussion. Unfortunately allowing pike squares (where the pikemen all face outwards) is incompatible with the hard coded bot AI and would seemingly require a substantial re-working there. At the very least it is not possible to do via the module system code (it's been tried numerous times with every possible combination of commands available).

The reason for this incompatibility is the individual bot AI is foundationally based on each bot turning to face the mass of the enemy force when the enemy is distant, or their nearest attacker/greatest threat once the enemy gets close. Thus, the individual agents would constantly be turning, not facing outward, even if it were possible to position them along the sides of a square (which it is via module system code).

Aye, I thought that might be the case. Still, as I said i've just fired it up with the patch, and its fantastic, to have three rows of pikes (with the new movements) is great, really loving this game!
