... but why hasn't this game been turned into an MMORPG? The graphics are easily good enough, the gameplay is good enough, and it could easily be transplanted into an MMORPG. Not only could it be made into an online game, but in my opinion it would be one of the best ones on the market. Any reason why this hasn't been done?

Welcome to the forums. Hurray...another multiplayer thread! You just made everyone's day! :lol: But i'll be nice, you are absolutely correct. With a team of 50+ people it would be no problem and would be implemented right away. But with only...like two people working on the game, its not possible and won't/can't be done.

You're right, it would be a great online game. However, that's not even being considered right now, for various reasons that are glaringly apparent if you have any idea how MMO games are set up and run... not so much tech wise, but management wise. This isn't a corporation producing this game, it's two people.

So no multiplayer right now.

::edit::

Yeah, but it's the first one in the general forum for a while, and I've done a lot of deleting today, so I'll let it live :razz:

I think the technology limits matter a lot too. MMORPGs require HUGE bandwidth and high-performance servers. It's also very hard to program. Regular multiplayer wouldn't be so bad, but it still has the problem of being diffucult to program.
And if the game was sold to another company, then it would become something more commercialized and less like mount and blade.

could the game rights not be sold to a bigger company?

Possibly maybe eventually.

Vauge enough? :lol: I wouldn't be too surprised if (assuming a good price is offered) Armagan was to sell the game. But that wouldn't be till after the official release, and likely not too soon after that.

But yeah, I think regular multiplayer (LAN or small internet server) is a much more likely possibility than MMO. Still hafta wait for "M&B 2: Jousting Boogaloo" for that.

The prospects are greater if he dosen't sell it, since he can then make another indie release of M&B 2. Raking in more money then what would be offered for the sale.

Plus if M&B falls into a big companies hands, it's going to get killed.

*BZZZZZZZZZZZT*

Multiplayer functionality is one of the most difficult and complicated things to code. Add in the fact that the development team has a grand total of two members, and the difficulty - the nigh-impossibility, really - becomes readily apparent. Hell, it took two men nine months to code simple lan for Quake (I can't recall which one II or III, I think) - can you imagine how long it'd take for massively multiplayer functionality? Plus the infrastructure and constant upkeep needed for that genre of game?

Not going to happen.
