Sergeant at Arms
Hi everyone I'm just wondering if any of you ever captured Almerra Castle in the Rhodok faction.
I have found it hard and have never captured it.
For those that have never seen it before you have to go through the clear courtyard to reach the walls.
Which I can't reach because of the fact theres no cover in the courtyard, plus the gate doesn't provide decent cover.

I tried charging with all my troops before but most of them end up slaughtered and get killed off by the time they reach the wall.

I had an ok time capturing it. What I did to win was have a bunch of archers in my party. Charge forward with everyone into the courtyard, and have your archers wait in the courtyard while your infantry storm the ladder

Almerra is the wooden compound one with the two courtyards, right? If that's the one, then eh. It might be hard if you have no ranged weapons, as when you go up the ladder, there are archers behind you taking potshots. I killed them and any other immediate archer threats first and it's a lot easier taking it.

Had no major issue with it. In the courtyard, they have no cover so when fighting as Rhodok Rebels, I brought a LOT of crossbowmen with me to outshoot my foe, while I provided additional dakka with a War Bow.

I thought it was easy. I was outnumbered 170-50, just had my archers wait in the courtyard while my infantry stormed, I supported with my bow. Took two sieges, but we still won.

Tihr has got to be the hardest town to siege, from what I've seen.

You have to deal with two walls

Ibdeles (sp?) is bad as well, you need to get onto the wall, then clear the outer wall and courtyard (While being fired at from the inner wall), force through a narrow gate into the inner courtyard, then clear that and its walls.

If anything I would way it was tougher than Almerrah given it is a proper castle in design rather than a wooden fort, crossbowmen hiding behind crenelations are much more awkward to eliminate.

Luckily, there's only about 6 bowmen on the inner walls, as well as this, once inside you meet most of the freshly spawned enemies in the narrow gate, meaning that you can overpower them even with smaller numbers

Distar Castle and Narra both gave me the most trouble.  Coincidentally enough, they're Khergit. Sargoth was by far the easiest town, however, so people looking for a quick grab might try there first.

Dhirim earns a special mention for having people spawn behind a wall where they then lurk and swipe at you with bardiches.

On the other hand it has Five villages, if you can grab it before pledging to a kingdom then you are set to become very rich and powerful indeed.

Bring lots of archers if you're planning to take Almerra C.
I have taken it 2 times by stopping my archers to the doorway (so that they can shoot the enemy) and infantry to back for a while. When worst fire has been taken down infantry charges and archers advance to give cover.

Took at least 2 times to attack, though.
