Have you listened to Solitude Aeturnus? They're another great doom metal band.
They also have Robert Lowe singing. (Granted the version I linked has Messiah Johan Längqvist singing IIRC)

Candlemass is good, in addition to Solitude, I also enjoy Bells of Acheron.

For purposes of the thread, I tend to listen to Nightwish.

Nightwish-Amaranth

Reminds me of this:

Candlemass is ancient, but still they have some good songs. I mostly listen to anything from Anathema or Jeff Buckley when I'm in a bad mood. Though not always those two, but most of the time.
Temporary Peace I began listening to this after some events that happened in my life. It sort of brings what is dubbed to the song a bit.
Inner Silence. Boy, that and One Last Goodbye pierced me through.
One Last Goodbye - I suggest you listen this song, then Parisienne Moonlight, then Judgement. They make a very good combination.
Pitiless
Lost Control
Those are from their older stuff. But they still can make and rearrange good pieces. Such as;
A Simple Mistake - This song is their best from their new album.
Crestfallen
Sunset of Age- Probably those two are of their best arrangement for their older stuff.

I like Jeff Buckley's songs not only they have good melodies, but more that they include good lyrics and also the vocals.

Dido's Lament - An aria by Henri Purcell.
Grace
Lover You Should've Come Over - Especially for lyrics.
Dream Brother
Mojo Pin -  This live version is the best imo.

Almost forgot, Time never gets old for some situations.

Phideaux make awesome songs to listen to when you are sad.
And Crippled Black Phoenix.

Trying to think of others, but they are my go to bands.

Used to listend to anything Yann Tiersen made, cpme to think of it I haven't listened to any of his songs for ages.

I don't get depressed. But when I was an emo teenager (all teenagers are emo at some point, although when I was a teenager, the term "emo" didn't exist) I used to listen to the Sex Pistols to cheer me up. And sometimes Steve Harley & The Cockney Rebel. Because there's nothing as good for cheering you up as a few cheesy glam-prog-pop songs. Referring not to the Sex Pistols, of course.

As in, songs listened to to cheer me up when depressed/bugged/stressed?

I kick things off with Achilles' Last Stand. The Pet Sounds stereo mix, Today!, Smiley Smile and Surf's Up by the Beach Boys also enter steady rotation.
