No bug.. you have to think this through.

To explain the runed item quest:

From the start, you'll need 3 qualis gems to get one runed gem item.

1x Qualis: You'll get a map to be able to find the mines.
1x Qualis: You'll buy a runed weapon from Hamidaron at the mines.
1x Qualis: You'll enhance the weapon with either a Saphire, Rube or Emerald.

Ofcourse you also need a bottle of wine and all items need to be in your inventory (just to be sure, I did not test that).

It seems a lot of people do not assume the last qualis gem is needed! I too thought that the requested Qualis gem hint referred to the gem you give to Hamidaron, not to another gem for the hermit who enhances your chosen runed item.

Ofcourse remove my spoiler if you're of opinion that it shouldn't be spoiled, that's understandable, it's a bit of a challenge.

Not to hi-jack the thread, but on the subject of Al-Aziz...

Does the location move from game to game?

I started a new game, and bought the location with the gem, yet the Mines are not in the same location as the last game. In fact... I cant find the Mine anywhere!

Mine spawned in the empty desert south-west of the D'Shar (if Ravenstern is north) which I thought was impassible until I passed by and saw some afro tribe bandits.

If you release the signature hero without first taking him captive and speaking to him... well...

You done screwed up, son.

In order to get the gem, you must take them captive and then speak to them from the "Party" screen.

Also note that there are more options than ransoming for gems, though none are as important or worthwhile in my opinion.

I wonder what kind of insane person would pick "I release you for free as long as you don't take arms again" or something like that

By the way that makes me wonder

Do the signature heroes come back?

Saxondragon has spoken of them coming back with stronger armies if they escape, or are set free for ransom.  A guaranteed victory (without losing honor from executing them) may be worth it if you have extra gems.

And If the status for them is crushed?

Oh well my game is only 2.0 not 2.2 so might is well get it 2.2 with a fresh start ^_^

Yes, if you ransom them for cash or gem they will return eventually, and they won't remember you kindly.  I've ransomed Boris twice in a row... I imagine he's a little hot at me right now...
