AI is a joke...

I have never played M&B before and have about 3hrs in Bannerlord. I just wanted to ask is it normal for me to be able to circle enemies spamming and just win every single touney in the game with ease without needing to block or anything?

When I progress further am I just going to be able to circle big groups doing the same?

To be fair, this has always been a problem(?) in Mount & Blade series. I personally don't mind it because it depends on encounters. But yeah, AI has never been the strong suit of this series, and I don't think they will improve it much in Bannerlord. ( it's still early access so they certainly will improve the AI in the future but I'm not sure if it'll be enough to satisfy people. )

Agreed, I really enjoy bannerlord so far (30 hours in), but the AI is just too easy. Good AI here feels like Average AI on warband at best, I can consistently beat tournaments after just starting a new game unless I get ganked. At the very least they should use shield bashes, feint more, be less predictable in general.

It seems your gear and playing style is good enough to stop tournaments, even though it's a great way to gain money. Get into a huge battle, it will be more challenging. The AI isn't that good however, I personally like circling the enemy and raising my archery/riding skill. I've only played Bannerlord for about 6 hours and haven't been in a huge battle yet to see if it more challenging than Warband. However, when the cavalry comes, you probably wont be able to just circle them anymore.

The AI can be good in combat, I had met some really nasty bastards that feinted the **** out of me, but it seems that you found an serious issue in the AI.
I tried the same right now and yes circling the AI seems to confuse them and make them unable to fight back, they can't even block your attacks, it feels more like an exploit.

Hopeful the Devs will look into this thread and fix the Combat AI.

To be honest it is easy to die like that in multiplayer- when someone starts running around your flank it can be hard to turn quick enough. It might be hard to fix for the AI, because they want to attack you when you are close which is normally a good move for them, so how to nullify the effectiveness of this tactic? Make them block constantly in case you try getting around them? By the time they know you are circling, it is too late to react. I wonder if the answer may lie not in actually an AI decision making change, but in lowering strafing speed.

But there are ways in which the combat AI has improved; charging cavalry tend to be very good at going a long way past an enemy to charge back in again, keeping themselves moving fast and getting out of danger. Also spear infantry seems effective at taking cav down (even when stuck among your men in Warband, spear infantry were pretty useless most of the time). Aserai tribesmen are great, with their short spears. They are the lowest tier Aserai unit I think. I was paying 20 gold for the Imperial Recruits, but they are only level 6 troops whereas the Aserai cost 50 gold and are level 11. It makes a big difference.

thats because those are aserai tier 2 units, aserai tier 1 are not available, its a bug

I think this is a bug or something, since this has been in other threads as an "cheat". (the tactic of running in circle and spamming that exact attack ur doing). However yes its easy 1v1 usually, but 2v1 much harder and 3v1 very hard. Also if you try attacking like looter party of 15 it is much more difficult, they have throwing weapons and can hit your horse dead from under you.

AI still needs work, it's much better than warband if you just stand in front of them and fight "normally", but for some reason it can't handle turning around and is easily abuse-able by circle strafing. Something that should hopefully be fixed in time.

Yeah this is broken and ruins melee. I just fired up Warband and it's clearly very different and broken in Bannerlords. In Warband the AI keeps up.

The A.I. needs back step and side step tweak it just enough so it doesn't look like a dance
