AI Archer Problem

I think this is a sort of bug and I've reported it but I don't think it has much to do with Floris because I'm sure it happened in native, so a few questions.

AI archers are refusing to shoot. It only happens with bandits or deserters (so the 'bandit factions'). They all knock, aim then lower. Bows or crossbows it's the same.

This happens at the start of the game and usually ends up fixing itself. No idea how or why. Does this happen with anyone else, and if so can and how did you fix it? Thanks.

No. I had a problem with archers spawning without bows, but it belongs to completely different category.

I had the same problem quite a while back. It seemed to resolve itself however, maybe just restarting the game or reloading will solve it? I haven't noticed it happening for quite some time now, so unfortunatley I can't tell you how what to do about it.

Finally discovered whats causing this, as it was driving me mad. Tried reinstalling restarting always the same. And low and behold it is caused by forming a shield wall, 100% of the time go against any bandit type form a shield wall and they will be unable to fire any arrows, just a looping animation of draw nock repeat. not sure if its native issue too, as i don't play native.

Edit

Appears to be any formation breaks AI archers

Just tested and can also confirm this.  I had wondered why I was having such an easy time against forest bandits and sea raiders with my Nord shield-wall.

Wow, so if I tell my men to make a shield wall, it even stops the enemy firing?

Thats a cockroach-sized bug right thar...

It doesn't seem to be consistent. I'm actually doubting if the shield wall is the cause. It kinda feels more like they're trying to do volley fire, but can't find a good line of sight to their target. This happens to both player and AI troops when at least one member of the group has a good line of sight and is able to release, while the others try to keep in unison with him but refuse to fire.
