Open world free to play pvp mmo with no levels but skill based. I believe it is in open beta but I am finding it hard to find anything about it really, only found out about it through some other forum then watched a bit of videos on it. Downloading it right now (7.2gb) and will post some screenshots and what I think of it later.

Here is some info from their website :

Game Background
Age of Wushu is based on early Ming Dynasty China, a time when the central plains were relatively stable. It was during this period the Jianghu martial arts were allowed to flourish, and the great schools were formed and began recruiting members. This precipitated great change across the land.

Compared with the thriving, bustling nature of Jianghu, the central government grew increasingly autocratic, with the emperor’s power increasingly consolidated. The Eastern Chamber and the Royal Guards were formed, each growing into formidable forces that influenced Jianghu. The founder of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang, grew increasingly suspicious and began purging those he distrusted. He began dispatching the newly powerful Royal Guard throughout Jianghu to bend the people to his will.

After the emperor’s death and the ensuing power struggle, the Nin Yin Manual, a secret martial arts tract, was rumored to be circulating through Jianghu. That set off violent tremors as factions of every stripe struggled to obtain this coveted work. The traditional martial arts began to evolve and grow more sophisticated, as did the newer fighting styles of the western regions, and so the story of Age of Wushu began…

Unique Features

Game Engine
Following continuous advancements in technology, Snail’s tech teams developed the new engine “FLEXI” for the development of Age of Wushu. The newly designed engine contained game client, server, and editing tools. It is a highly extensive system which can itterate the latest technology continuously. This assures that the developers don’t need to remake new engines again and again. Instead, they only need to add new modules into it to satisfy the requirements of future game development.

Showcasing Wushu Martial Arts
The game features eight different martial art schools to choose from, dazzling aerial duels, and a sophisticated system of combos and counters. Players are given tons of freedom unparalleled in modern MMORPGs in their journey to master the ancient Chinese martial arts, to delve into their character's unique story, to face the consequences of every action, and to fulfill their destiny.

Presenting an Ancient Landscape
Suzhou with the waterways and bridges, Yanjing filled with Imperial grandeur, taverns bursting with customers, and Inns with hidden pathway that might contain assassins – all these are a part of Age of Wushu. In the Wuxia world, we selected famous architecture of Ming Dynasty and modern landscape to create a complete and accurate world filled with natural and human wonders.

I also found a page for giveaways which some still have keys for various items :

Apparently, you can only activate one per account so you would probably want one of these that has a mount. I got all of these so I will just post my excess codes here after I pick one.

What's the combat like? If it's WoW Point-and-click combat, then I'd pass...

Appears to be more like gw2 in that you are actively using abilities. I'm still downloading since only getting 500kb/s from their server

Trying to find a video of decent combat but most videos I find have horrible music over it

Found one that shows you can do human trafficking though...

Man these Asian MMO names are getting even ****tier than the games themselves.

The only reason I know what Wushu is because it was the *fly in the air while kicking and turning* martial arts style in True Crime: NY.

Played it for a bit now and not sure if I will continue or not, depends on if the pvp is actually amazing or not I guess. Game is basically eve but with martial arts thrown in, you have to train skills but unlike eve you can only train them offline if you are a paid member. Combat isn't as fluid as gw2 but somewhat similar in that you have to keep using skills and not just auto attacks, I have yet to try and pvp so I am not sure how good that is since that is basically what this revolves around. There are no levels just like in eve but someone who has played longer most likely has more 'certs' than you would.

The jist of the skill system is you get experience doing quests or trades, that experience is then cultivated over time which can be used as points to train a skill. You can then train a new skill through a few different methods either internally (by yourself, overtime) with money or with a team (you do some weird martial arts practice thing).

Quests are pretty easy since you can click on the name of whoever it is you might have to speak to and the game automatically starts taking you there, although you can get stuck occasionally since pathfinding is never perfect.

Scenery looks pretty good and there are tons of npcs everywhere so finding quests is pretty easy. Quests are basically fetch quests or kill quests although there is random events and you can do one of the trades for experience as well (mining/fishing/hunting etc) so you don't really need to do fetch quests if you don't want to. Quest dialogue is pretty interesting, although some of the translation that is done is either done wrong or done wrong on purpose for humour.

One of the interesting things about the game is that when you log off your character stays in the world as an npc essentially doing things npcs do (depending on where you log out I guess).

Got a bunch of extra gift pack codes if anyone wants to use one, I think they all give a horse and some sort of appearance item for 14 days as well as some other random food/materials.
