so basically great_duke, you were too impatient after you asked scion to use his models then got pissed because of his "arrogance" and "offensiveness" by saying he hadn't decided if he would let you use his models. you asked a question, he thought about the answer, but once you started pestering him about it and getting all offended by his answer, which made him not want to give them to you. i think an appropriate answer to scion when he said "yeah sorry, i just haven't decided" would be something like "okay, no rush. thanks in advance, these models will be helpful for my mod" and leave ot at that. even if scion decided to not give them to you, he probably would've been more likely to if you answered patiently and courteously, and then at least you wouldn't have started a huge feud out of it. sorry for being off-topic, if you get pissed at me for the off-topicness, it's cool, but i think it needs to be said.
 
look, pellidon, no offense but don't you have anything better to do? whe've been there already, dragging this topic forever will eventually result in someone being banned and nobody wants that! the latest pages of this thread are full of spams, and most of them come from you, so could you please stop?

look, like i said , we've been there already, but here's my point of view(again):

I though everyone's reaction to that thread was hilarious.  Ok, it is a breach of etiquette to post PMs(even tough i didn't reveal his identity), and maybe I pushed the guy a little bit after the first couple PMs...but COME ON!  It's like I walked up to a guy at a store and ask him the time, and he just looks at me blankly.  Then I ask again and he says "I'll think about it." and you say "What do you mean you'll think about it?" and he says "Look, man, I don't tell the time to just ANYONE.  I only tell the time to people who I like, and *only* if I respect them."  I just don't get that no one else seems to think this is fu***d up.  I would be hard pressed not to smack the sh*t out of someone who acted like that.

I didn't ask for his "art", i asked for 3 simple small scene props wich surely don't hurt his mod's "authenticithy". then i send him a pm. he doesn't reply. then i send a pm asking if he received my last message he goes " yes i did, i'm thinking about it" . Look, this guy is all talk and hot wind, he wants to act like he'a a major league champion, he ain't, and even if he was, it is still fu**d up. he hasnt released anything.not sure if he even will. aside from some prety models and textures his mod seems to have 0 content and a totally unnoriginal idea.yet he goes around like he is albert einstein reincarnation(with the difference that einstein was a nice guy  :roll: )that's why it's so funny( i'm the only one that gets the joke?)

so ok, i haven't released anything also, and this is my first mod, but i don't go around acting like a prick, and i help other modders because i feel i owe that, since without the help of people from this community, their tutorials, their aplications, i woudn't be able to do ****. I'm not a "hippie" or a "free-sharing enthusiast", and even if i was, at least i'm not an a**hole like this guy seems to be.

and yes, it's his right to give his stuff to whoever he wants, but that is not the point.it never was. i never demanded his stuff and never will do that.why i started that old thread? amusement,curiosity you name it.i thought what happened was funny and sick...but i'm not "riled up" about it.i never gave his identity, He's the one that decided to come forward and identify himself( and to continue the discussion here...damm  :roll: )

perhaps i made my point understandable now...

I will eventually have to close and this thread and open another, the topic here is the age of descent mod, not that funny thread i started a while ago, so again i say:

if someone has anything to add to that thread, do not post here. ask me about it, and i will unlock that thread, so that you can have your fun  :wink:

well then, i was playtesting a little bit. soloing a character against small weak groups of ghouls and took the time to take some screenshots along for the ride. i guess this is a nice preview of what i am aiming for the ghoul troops  :wink:

I realize i havent' really spoiled what I plan for the mod, so most people who are interested in this may be a bit lost...not knowing about anything except the ghouls and the weird flintlock firearms. i might have hinted somewhere that I want this to have that "Classical Bioware rpg feel" and yes, that's what i'm aiming for. I'm trying my best for well-written stuff. Interesting characters, an immersive scenario and a good-semi linear plot/storyline. everything is coming out well and faster than i expected, so you can expect a release quite soon  :wink: I'm quite satisfied with how this is turning out to be, the looks, the feel...I hope it ends up like i want to.

the ghoul troops are praticcaly ready. i managed to pull off everything i wanted in them: the scary looks and sounds, the variety in appearence... there are special thanks due to Janus, for providing with some nice sounds for the ghouls, and for Bryce for helping me out with figuring out a way to implement the ghouls "claw attack".

Those claws look great.  Everything you have told me about the mod so far just makes it sound better and better, too.  If you need any help at some point polishing your writing up then I can help out.  I will look into the animation thing this weekend.  Now that .806 seems to be the final patch I am going to start plaing with it, assuming I can finish neverwinter nigths 2 up soon - which is ok but not great, btw.
 
yeah, the claws ended up looking good with the invisible weapon thing, but i still thing that the unarmed attack animation would be better because sometimes the hands get a weird positioning(eg: like they are holding something).

next screens i post will be of the first town, and some of the quests and dialogues, so i will use that help you are offering bryce(perhaps i will always be stuck with grammar problems, even tough they are small ones...english is not my native language after all  :wink:)

and perhaps i will try nwn 2 when i get some free time...since you are recommending it  :smile:

Well, I would pick it up in the bargain bin, knowing what I know now.  I am about halway through and it is picking up but it starts off VERY slow with some really stupid quests.  Its interface is really bad, too, and takes a ton of etting used to.

great_duke, i have to say, you're freakin' amazing. this is going to be mad fun to play. quick question, is what you 0.8xx compatible yet? also, how long will you be working on it before an alpha? i don't mean specific time, just ballpark, like are you going to completely finish it as some people prefer, or have a mini-release to give a feel for the gameplay.

God, I really hope that that was a well crafted pun you just made.

Also, /jawdrop. This looks bloody fantastic! I love that you are assessing every detail of this mod and coming out with a finished product that looks fantastic without releasing something half baked and hoping to eventually update it later.

I say, power to ya man!  :grin:
 
that pickaxe is 2 handed. check out the shot that's in the river, right after the the one with the zombie who's about to get his face impaled  :lol:
 
i have a feeling i might have a testing version ready by the second half of january, it's just a guess, but things have been going really smoothly, heck, if it keeps this way i might even do it sooner than that. everything i have is 0.8xx compatible, mostly because even tough i've a lot of stuff scripted (mostly different and unique quests, not randomized stuff like in vanilla),it's all simple stuff, withim the reach of an unexperienced scripter like myself. i haven't gone as far as really changing the game engine like some of the mods in development( eg:grin:arklands,RPG Mod and Leaguer of Maedhros) are doing.The mod does, however, feels totaly different from vanilla.I am still thinking in adding some simple stuff, like an alignment system(a rip-off of bryce's fame/reputation thing) and maybe a "satisfaction" script for npc heroes(just a simple script related to the player's alignment), since they are the main scope for troops usable by the player.

I'm glad the feedback is positive  :wink: , i guess fixing the attack animations for the ghouls is needed tough.

I will put some of Luigi's renaissance two-handed swords, but note that they will be rare items. Two-handed swords don't go well against firearms and undead troops...they wouldn't be like still commonly manufactured and commonly used items, they would be more like remnants of the time before the plague appeared. something like an antiquity  :wink:
 
Relax man, he said he would put some in, just as rarities not common weapons.

although a suggestion would be to eventually make some scarier clothes for the zombies (like, gutsy stuff falling apart, so it matches the face  :smile:)
