After patching, not able to launch Warband.

I updated Warband today to the latest patch, and it launches momentarily.

The progress bar starts to fill as the game launches, moving past "Processing INI file," etc etc.

I then crash to desktop with the message "Mesh names should have at least 2 characters: rename "", in file "CommonRes\shields.brf"

So, outside of going to the directory and giving the path some random name, how do I fix?

Did this only start to occur after you installed a mod? If so, this is the problem. Uninstall the mod, then try again. Let me know how it goes.

nah last night i could play perfectly.
patch installed via steam
now crashes

i think, your "shields.brf" file has been corrupted after installing the patch. re-installing the game should solve that issue

Or I could just transfer Vanidar's shield.brf over the network through the router to my folder.
I should have thought of that sooner. ty for the help.

Will post results.

Edit: Failure. Still the same error message, and I overwrote my old shields.brf with a shields.brf from a confirmed working, patched install of WB.

Also, just tried to replace my entire commonres folder from a confirmed working and fully patched install of Warband, and it's still giving me the same exact error.

I then tried to replace my entire warband folder with the working, patched version from Van's PC.. Still a no go.

Looks to me like the files aren't the culprits. I'd really like to avoid a re-install, as re-download off steam will take ages.

and you may want to try the game with the editmode enabled.

Have u tried reinstalling?
