Resolved After main quest failed, cannot start a kingdom

I ignored the main quest and it expired after 10 years. It automatically gave me the next quest in the quest line, and told me to find the pieces of the dragon banner at two bandit hideouts. However, after completing these two objectives the quest stopped and the next quest would not begin.

This sucks cause I've already invested 10+ hours in this save and there is no way for me to start my own kingdom. I basically have to start over. This is a major problem because in a sandbox game I kinda just wanted to do my own thing. Now a huge part of the game is completely locked away from me and there is no recourse for the failure of this quest.

If possible, could you guys create a different way to create a kingdom or at least, don't put a timer on the quest?

but you have to make a new game or load a previous save with this quest still active.
