Adding town recruitment?

What I'm trying to do:
  • Copy the volunteer recruitment thing from villages to towns, having the tavernkeeper as the village elder
  • Modify the village recruitment thing for towns so that all towns have their own troop tree
So for example, if I go to Tulga and talk to the tavern keeper, I can check for volunteers, the quality and quantity affected by my relation with the town. However, instead of Khergits, I'd be able to select, say, Town Recruits, and if my relation is good enough, they might be Town Heavy Infantry. Their numbers would refresh every so often and I won't be able to recruit if my relation is poor.

I'm a complete newbie, and trying to understand the M&B scripting language is like learning to program in a bloated assembly language with scattered documentation and outdated manuals. :???: But I'm sure after a few more weeks at this it'll all be less arcane.

Right, thanks to sheer determination, the inline documentation, and a lack of fear of breaking anything (NO BACKUPS), I was able to do it! Yay for me.
