Add In More Items

I just think that there is a severe lack of items within the multi-player.

For example, there are no:
  • Leather helmets
  • Leather armor
  • Scale armor
  • Only one type of bow
  • No two-handed axes
  • A severe lack of chest-items for some factions

I have no idea if you're going to add in more items to this, as I know that SP was the focus, however if you do, please do take into account some of the items in Brytenwalda and perhaps make a more polished version of the items in that or something along those lines, that way there will be a lot more variety among the factions in the game, seeing as the only factions with variety in them at the moment (for me and some others most likely) are the picts and gauls (irish). Thanks.

There is scale armor and people debate about leather armor being a thing

Well, there are linen tunics, leather tunics and so on in Brytenwalda, wouldn't be surprised if there weren't the exact same items, but this is taking the piss a bit. Not even a single leather helmet, I mean come on.

I support the idea that there should be more armors and weapons in multiplayer. The current ones are quite expensive. More different items would be a huge change. Mayby even add some of the singleplayer weapons and armors?

This DLC is seriously lacking in items. There is nothing to aspire to get, really kills the motivation to play.

I just honestly struggle to understand why they didn't try to copy some items from Brytenwalda and polish them up a bit (make them suit the updated models etc) and then just add them in (the ones which are historically correct that is). Atleast give the saxons some scale armor.

they do have scale armor

Post a screenshot of the scale armor if you can lol, I don't think I am able to identify it.

inb4 historical accuracy patrol comes to give you a beating, then bore you to death explaining why there could be not a possible slight sliver of a chance anyone would use 2 handed axes back then.

I like the 2-handed axes but there is zero evidence to support they were used around the time of this game apparently. Even in Brytenwalda they were anachronistic and only available for Outlaw groups and Dena. Personally, I think they should have done something similar in VC.

As to the slightest possibility someone may have well, even though there is a possibility doesn't mean someone did. We could do that about a lot of items. I honestly wish there was more civilian worker tools available for killing low tier enemies.

That being said I don't think historical accuracy was the only barrier to variety. I'm guessing a lack of time and what appears to only one modeler/texture guy for arms and armor being a problem. I hope OSPs come out along with patches that include more content.

Actually, one of the things I want to see most is some chainmail -without- the puffy gambesons underneath.

I struggle to believe that there was not a single two-handed axe used by any of those factions. Like many have said before on these forums, it is not particularly difficult to get a long piece of wood and add in a sharpened piece of metal on the end of it. Does it really matter if there is barely any evidence to support it? But hey, I don't really give a crap about the axes. What I really want though are more armor types at the very least.

I think this is something that might best be handled with a mod. Another option is that items with questionable historical accuracy must be commissioned from the special armor and weapon smiths.

I really would like to see the devs bling out a few items that are already there. I think brass trim on helmets and armor would go a long way to making cooler looking characters.

Possibly gold on more expensive swords. More decorative variations on expensive arms and armor is definitely welcome. Brytenwalda has some beautiful swords.

Even with the gambeson the armor is too puffy. It is questionable whether chainmail was worn without some sort of padding beneath. Simply put, if you get hit by a sword you could break something pretty easily. It doesn't absorb the kinetic energy like plate might. There probably was either leather beneath or a gambeson.

Again, just because you'd like to think someone made one doesn't mean someone did. If they are included eventually they should be rare.

Well at least that's what the devs have been saying, that the only reason there is not a greater variety in items is because they wanted it to be as historically accurate as possible.

And then someone goes like "well but it wouldn't hurt to add simple 2 handed axes right?" and that immediately prompts the HA patrol to descend on the thread and start making awesome statements such as "well why don't you add dragons and horned helmets while you're at it!!!", implying that 2 handed axes and dragons have the same level of historical accuracy for that time period, and I just sit back and enjoy.

Two handed axes are less like adding a dragon to a Viking DLC and more like adding bolt action riffles to a Napoleon DLC.

If you check in camp menu> cheats >ítems, you will see how many are, created specifically for VC.

There could be limited options in types of weapons, but it doesn't means there are only a few 3D models. On the other hand, weapons are obviously important, but they are only a part of the 3D work that a video game like VC needs. And 3D modeling is certainly important, but there are many other aspects to work. We have made a lot of graphical improvements, like the shaders, the storyline is dense and full of details, we have rebuilt the UI and there are 70 new illustrations, there is the naval combat system, etc.

It certainly wouldn't hurt the game to add simple 2 handed axes, but I don't think the 2 handed axes are the difference between a good and a bad DLC.
