i don't mind mild abusive language but words such as F**K, c**k  etc etc are reoccurring all the time, it's just too much.... just don't use these words if you really aren't upset. If you are... well OK...
**** you! ****!

Lul.

Well I was going to point out why '**** you' and 'Go to hell' aren't any different, and even if they are 'Go to hell' is actually the worst of the two, but the OP would rather go insane and start raving. He didn't last long, did he?

The moderation upon cursing has been lax to say the least from the start and it's a huge part of the way this forum works, don't like it? Then **** off.

Exactly what I was thinking while I was reading the thread.

Spanky, here is my advice. Grow thicker skin. Pleas for civility will get you nowhere, and can seem like a "better than you" cry for attention. If you're in a thread where someone is behaving inappropriately, report them to a moderator. Beyond that, suck it up and ignore them. Furthermore, make sure your behavior reflects your own requests. This is the only thread I've seen you post in, and you've already been a prick a fair few times. Lead by example.

On another note, you double post a lot. Please try to use the edit feature instead.

He's already turned into a loony, no use talking to him now. Usually people have to sit at taleworlds a good day or so to get that bad.

Someone fetch me strait jacket.

To be honest I can't see the point in trying to get people to type their posts in a different manner, just so one person is happy. I mean I don't usually swear in posts, but that doesn't mean that I want people not to either. It's just the way they express themselves. And I better stop before I make a coherent thought

Well i am actually in Sweden - Norman = Scandinavians?
Worse. French Scandinavians!

Although interestingly most words are Danish in origin. **** probably derives from the Dutch Kunte, and was only deemed a profanity around two centuries ago. Twat too is Danish, and **** probably derives from the Scandinavian too (IIRC fokken rather than fukt). Frig came from the Normans, as did piss, Bastard could derive from Frisian or French, and ****/****e/shat are the sole remaining Anglo Saxon.

Of course, the main thing to recognise about the English is that referring to someone as a **** may be an insult or a term of endearment. We've always been a bit ambiguous when it comes to that kind of thing. **** does however have the honour of being the most versatile word in the English language.

Coincidentally, I can curse without flaming.

Anyway, Spankyandsomenumbers, why? Cursing is only offensive if you take offense to it, you know.

(Also; don't lecture anyone about maturity if you threaten to lance them in a computer game. You have no means of recognizing your targets, and they may very well be better players than you.)

Whoah Arch, Bastard from Frisian? :???: That seems rather odd to me. I'm thinking it came from French instead. (actually, French wikipedia seems to claim their word Bâtard comes from the English word bastard. nvm that, I must've misread; Herkunft:

von altfranzösisch: bastard auch: fils de bast, fille de bast
is what German wikitionary says, and that seems logical.)

And anyway, most swearing and cursing here isn't offensive in the least, unless you personally feel targeted by every annoyance of every anonymous internet person, ofcourse.

Old Frisian word for marriage bast/bost, + Hard from English. Conceptually it would indicate one who resisted marriage.

No, tis Danish from fokken - to breed (usually applied to cattle). The direct German would be ficken, which translates to ****. Though the original root is probably much older.

Lep o snap, I don't remember ever seeing Sir Saladin straight up smack someone down like that. Usually he just comes out with some amiably obscure, yet strangely compelling aphorisms or musings.
