I am writing up a lab report and I am struggling to find reading material on the use in general.
Need it for my background introduction.

So I am appealing for book or journal references.

Authors, publisher, title and ISBN number if available/applicable.

Absorption spectrometry? Huh. I could tell you stuff about it (I'm taking an astronomy class right now), but as for sources...can you cite textbooks? Or, maybe you could look through textbooks for the sources they cite?

One book I found is Modern Spectroscopy by J. Michael Hollas, I just can't find a bloody copy!

You need books on spectrophotometry? Or on spectroscopy? Or both? (They're not the same things, are they? I've only ever heard of spectroscopy)

Try scholar.google and your Uni's databases, like the aforementioned JSTOR.

Rofl, in that case, astronomy textbooks won't help you. 

As the others have said, try JSTOR.
