About the shield's position and movement when and while attacking

Currently, when attacking, the characters move their shield away from the front (which is opponent is at)
It looks awkward, especially with long (or big) shields.
So, I think the shields are should stay at front. Well, yeah, then the attacking animations with shields will be "narrower" and it would be a disadvantage for shields, but I think that would be looks more realistic or more natural.
 
You move the shield. You can actively move the shield left, right, up, or straight. It's just like blocking with a weapon.

Sorry, but you clearly misunderstood what I meant. What I meant is, when you attack, the character lay down or move it to side, right? So when it's a big shields. It usually stays up vertically, but when attack, it gose down, and it goes horizontal. Y'know, because of they move their arms down, so vertically long shields down, and it goes horizontal. What I meant was, like those things are looks awkward.
 
They have t he shield go behind you so that you are vulnerable if you miss your attack or get blocked. You have to sacrifice some realism for gameplay. Also the reason people misunderstand what you mean is because there are a lot of idiots in this world. They could be anywhere.
