About the fantasy/reality topic

I think Armagan could put an end to a topic wich is going ever closer to a flame, by answering the question it has:

"Will you ever develop in M&B fantasy content like magic, trolls, orcs, or somesuch?"

I have thought of three possible answers, instead of two... the last one i think will please everyone.

1)"Yes, we will start creating goblins and Tolkien trash as soon as we are ready"

2)"No, we will stick with as much realism as we can"

3)"We will do both things. We will create models for orcs, elves, and all that crap, but we will leave it as an OPTIONAL choice. You want to play as an elf, you activate the mod, you want to stick with humans, you don't activate it".

As i said, option number 3 will make everyone happy, i think. Of course i don't want to put any pressure on anyone... but having a clear answer will definitely put down a rising flame in the other topic.

Makes me happy, i wouldnt mind if the game is fantasy, but have the fantasy OPTIONAL. Well, it is fasntasy already, cuz its not real, but orcs and dragons and all that i wouldnt mind bieng optional

There are already undead. I've fought them and their glowing green hands are very scary. Regardless of the outcome, it shouldn't be hard to replace fantasy units with non-fantasy units or vice versa as long as the units are already done. Replacing the river pirates with undead is a single number change in a text file. If the units aren't modelled, then I imagine it will be more difficult. (And impossible for my artless self  )

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that regardless of the camp you are in, I'm sure some modder will be able to give you what you want with this great engine regardless of what armagan ends up delivering as far as content.

Me, I wouldn't care if he made mounted frogs and scary butterflies as long as it remains as fun as it is now. Having or not having fantasy units is not what is making me like this game, the combat is just fun and would be regarless of if I was fighting a troop of orcs or sea raiders.

Yes, yes, precisely what i am saying. But if Armagan gives a clear answer, at least the atmosphere will calm down a bit. That's my point.

Way to be unbiased, ya jerk.

I'm just tired of being told that fantasy elements are never going to be possible because the second even a small fantasy element goes in it some how balloons (in crazy world) to having Final Fantasy 7. I still stand that the game isn't going implement many action game elements very well without a type of boss or miniboss.

ROFL, i am umbiased, i was making fun of both parties
Huh? Tolkien Trash, though no mention of people putting on their Chainmail Coifs before sitting down to play?

Oh, well, i thought they would prefer tieing their scabbards on their hips...

Really, Worm, if you looked in the thread "what will you do as soon as the dev kit is released" you would have seen that i have absolutely nothing against "fantasy".

Really, i just want to put an end to a semi-flame, in a pacific way, that, hopefully, makes everyone happy.

Looks like armagan answered in the other topic. Peace is made... and it goes option number three.

A round for everyone... i will offer.

Damn, can you post somewhere the change you have to make to play with the undead? Im no good at that stuff, but i would like to try that out. Can you post somewhere the text so i can just copy paste it into the right file????

This will just change the river pirates, but you can do with it what you like. First backup the Mods/Native/party_templates.txt file in your Mount&Blade directory. Then open it and find the line:

Code:
river_pirates 16777222 2 395 33 3 30 0 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1

Change the '33' to a '54' for a low level undead walker and save the file. Now when the "river pirates" group spawns it will contain "undead walkers" instead of "river pirates".

The data in this file and and more are pretty much explained in this thread. Good luck.
