About Military Wages

Hello everybody
I wonder what you think of the soldiers' salaries. that's a little too much, don't you think? maybe it will be a luxury request but as if it could be better with a little discount. however, as the number of qualified soldiers in my unit increases, the salary is higher than most city taxes. one city can't afford my main party's salary. Currently, the profits of caravans and workshops are scarcely any and incomes of the fortresses are not enough for their own garrisons. What should I do? Should I stock lots of cities by sponsoring my parties?

And looking at warband, we were paying wages once a week, but at bannerlord we pay daily. When we compare the two, we see that the wages in bannerlord are much higher. Wages can be reorganized considering all these. my opinion; The cavalry wages should remain constant and some discount should be given to the wages of non-cavalry troops.

What do you think about this subject? I am waiting for your comments.

Set your towns for economic development to increase prosperity and taxes -- Orchards, Granary, Marketplace, Aquaducts. Siege defense, Walls, garrisons are useless.

Get rid of your garrisons and use militia. Militia do not cost anything. Build Militia Training Ground.

Put in good governors. Initially use your engineer to speed up projects, then replace with someone like spouse or brother who can increase prosperity and tax revenues.

Pare down your army to what you can afford. Do not expect tax dollars, caravans and shops to sustain a big offensive army, but they can give you enough to defend yourself. If you want to be a big, bad ass conqueror, then go forth and do so, but you will have to finance it with loot.

Abandon any castles that are not making money, especially if they are so remote as to require a garrison to defend. Consolidate your holdings so you can use a mobile defense.

This is very much an economic game as well as a war game, and those who do not grasp this are doomed to bankrupt failure. Wages do not need fixed, but your gameplay does.

Thanks for your comment. Don't worry, I can manage the economy in this game:smile:, soldier wages are not a big problem for me, but I shared this post because I was curious about your opinions. but I'm tired of dealing with management issues, frankly I'm a little too tight. Sometimes I want to play this game not as a manager but as a errand-boy. however, the game is not suitable enough for this.

I personally dont mind troop wages mid-late game. In the early game it can be a bit of a challenge, but thats one of the things making the early game fun and exciting.
And remember: if you pay peanuts, you’ll get monkeys.

Wages are probably too low and encourage the player to build completely imbalanced parties (all top-end troops) but other players report enough issues affording their party and garrison wages that I don't care to see them raised.

Exactly. Roll with 2/3rds horse archers and 1/3 lancers. Upgrade as soon as possible.

In the early game, I rolled with 10 troops, and just murdered looters/bandits by the dozens to pay for food/salary/war horses for upgrades.

In the later game, the result is basically mass-murder.

All of the stupid tier 1 and 2 infantry that the AI likes to roll with to pad out thier numbers are like hot butter getting sliced by a cavalry lance.

In my current play through, my daily wages are around 1200 dinars for 100 troops... but those 100 can wipe out enemy armies so fast that they generate 10 times thier salary in loot/prisoner sales.

I do think being able to make upto a dozen gold coins a day for a soldier is way to high of a wage.
traditionally soldiers weren't paid as nearly as well, but they did supplement their income with looting the battlefield and occasional pillage and rape (don't act like sex wasn't worth money)
