AAR: Warriv

Thank you all. I enjoyed writing those two chapters. Next one will be .. a bit complicated, but i will manage. Coming tomorrow!

Good stuff. I'm glad to see Warriv leveled up several times before the war started. He can hold his own now. Good luck.

apparently it was for something called 'troll spamming' and i have a pretty good idea what it is, it means don't post stupid threads that everyone will hate you for. I've learned my lesson and i just wanted something completely inoccent rightnow. BTW don't worry about the forum rules because i just found and checked them.

Good work Warriv and keep writing.

As a good rule, I always say: "Make only posts and threads you think others want to read".

That only applies to an answer of a question. Not a question in itself which interests only you and as we all know-the individual is everything. Semi-philosophy pwnage!

No. Other people want to answer your questions, hence, they have interest.

Chapter 14: A sudden change of plans

October 4. 1257

This day has been a bad day for the Vaegir Kingdom. We lost Dhirim to the Nords, and right after that, they declare peace on us. Then, the Khergit Khanate declares war on us. I hope we will do better against the Khergits. My wound, however, has gotten better, and I can walk properly now.

October 28. 1257

Lately, there have been only a few skirmishes here and there in the war, but right now they are besieging Reyvadin, with an army of almost thousand men! Boyar Meriga is the marshal, and he is a damn good one too, as he was a marshal once in 1255, and I followed my knight to battle under the command of Meriga, we took Wercheg but lost it a few weeks later, I still remember it. We are following him now, with an army of 800 men, but even if we are outnumbered by the Khergits, we have a lot of knights, that may just be the essential thing in the coming fights.

We get to Reyvadin, and we start to form our cavalry line. We charge the enemy, and the coming fight is fierce, but we defeat about 500 of them, before the Khergits retreat and regroup. We free boyar Vlan, and he is very happy to see us, as he had been captive for over 2 weeks. I wouldn't have survived that. The Khergits are treating the prisoners the same way, lords get the same treatment as commoners, and that is really bad. However, he didn't starve or get diseases, so he managed to survive in the dark dungeons in the steppe. We have only about 400 left in our army to fight with, and we decide to get inside Reyvadin to defend the town.

October 29. 1257

They have been regrouping all night now, and as the sun sets, we see that they have at least 700 men. It seems that their Khan came to help. In the evening, they start marching against the walls. Our marksmen fire many hard volleys against them, and they return fire, at least with a double amount of arrows.

They set up a ladder, and then they come up to us. However, our knights are defending the opening where the ladder is, and not even one Khergit passes through there in the whole assault. Finally, they decide that they can't breach through properly, and they retreat from the siege. We have successfully defended Reyvadin, but with a lot of casualties. I replace my men with freed prisoners, and my army is just as good as before.

Nice, though more screenshots would be nicer.

P.S - Can you put all the chapters into your first post, so everything is organized. (Just asking)

When im done with the AAR, who knows how many more months that will take, I will do it.

I also know from experience that that would take a lot of time so good luck and keep writing the AAR's. Oh and one sugestion, I know you get told a lot that it needs to be longer but I think you can hit 2 birds with 1 stone if you add more emotion.

We free boyar Vlan, and he is very happy to see us.
Very happy is alright but in my opinion you could have made it more dramatic or preferably enthusiastic while adding Warriv's own personal touch instead of just stating the facts.

Boyar Meriga is the marshal, and he is a damn good one too.
Good use of emotion but not enough information. Is he good at hosting feasts (Harlaus), at holding castles or attacking enemies? I don't ask for an overload of info just something like because of the many victories he brought us.

Otherwise good work on everything and I really like the screenies and maybe one day I won't be able to complain about anything.

Chapter 15: Silence before the storm

November 20. 1257

Since the siege of Reyvadin, the war has been very silent. There were just a few skirmishes at the border, but no great battles. Except the siege of Sungetche castle, where Meriga besieged the castle with about 150 men. It was weakly defended. The castle itself, however, is very important strategically, as we can control the mountain pass where caravans often go through, delivering spices from the steppe.

November 23. 1257

The Swadians declared war on the Khergits! The Khergits then decided to make peace with us, and we had won this war. We had won one castle. I had profited some money from the war, by winning 3 skirmishes with the Khergits, and capturing one of their warlords. I set up a tannery in Khudan, and a brewery in Reyvadin to keep the income flowing, because the knights are highly paid. I also saved boyar Vlan from a sure loss in one of the skirmishes, well it was more of a battle, with 100 against 60 troops. He was gracious for my help. I am sure that me and Vlan will become good friends.

The winter has become very cold, and near Khudan, it is down to -50 degrees celsius. I stay far away from the cold taiga, to avoid that people freeze to death.

December 11. 1257

We declared war upon the Nords again, to perhaps take back Ismirala and Alburq castle. As for now, King Yaroglek has over 300 highly trained troops, and he might be our key to success. My tannery and brewery has succeeded, and I get about 500 denars each week from them.
