Day 35: Back to Elberl, I regather my army, and some of Elberl’s militia that volunteered to “liberate” Ryibelet, hoping to restore the swadian castle, little do they know! Now the march begins, we intend to reach Ryibelet castle by the dawn of the next day, and have it under our banner by sunset. The elder gave us some food in return of his son’s news, apparently he knew how much of a stubborn hard head his son was, and accepted my word, bid us farewell, we march to war!
Day 36: Like predicted, its dawn of the day, the sun rises behind the hills and we reached Ryibelet castle, and started preparation on the siege, Artimenner tells me that the layout of the castle requires the construction of a Siege tower, a task that, regardless of how many men we could put to the task, will take three days, I order several groups of scouts to post themselves at all possible escape routes, I cannot afford messengers to slip by and warn the rest of the rhodok forces, I need time to finish the tower, or else we are all going to languish on some dungeon, or worse, end up on gallows, so much for having the castle by sunset, while the shift workers hurry with the best of their efforts to get the tower ready, some of us catch some much needed rest, after the exaustive travelling.
The nightmares return, this time much clearer, almost premonitory, I saw villages burning, and armies with Legate Marius’ banner marching, just like it had happened, only the village and the people seemed calradian. Disturbing, even if I don’t believe in such things as premonitions, no type of god or divine being dictates my destiny, nor those of my men, we make our own fate, based on knowledge, and martial prowess.
Day 38: The siege tower is almost ready, and I feel it’s a good opportunity to call out whomever defends their castle and issue a call to reason, if bloodshed can be avoided, it shall. A rugged and preoccupied man called Gharmall comes out, and stays strong to his resolution to go down with his men if needed be, but he strongly belived he could hold out the castle for months long. A fool I say.
Day 39 - Dawn: The siege begins momentarily, we gather for last minute tactic layout, and call out for the attack, let it be noted that we attack the garrison with 110 men, leftovers from the antarian army, mercenaries, and militia from various villages, our tacticians estimate around 150 defenders, outnumbered, probably outmatched, only our strong will and some luck will see us prevail this day!
