A way to see item ID #'s in game?

Is there a way, with maybe edit mode? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere online, so I'm guessing not.

I'm essentially modding a mod, and I can't tell by just the ID what an item looks like. If I could see the ID's in game that would solve the problem.

look at torches and arrows.
For the trigger of your the item of interest, insert a debug statement which will show in red.

(display_message, "@Item trigger itm_xyz.", 0xCCCCCC)
To be more sophisticated you could create a script that runs in mission templates that uses
agent_get_item_id 

Look around for usages of it to find an example and simply insert a debug statement like the one above.

Short answer, yes. I have barely modded Warband (if you can call adding items and using editor tools to change things "modding").
I'm trying to change what troops have available for use, but I can't tell the values of the weapons and armor easily when adding them to the troop, so I was hoping there was some way to see it in game.

Turn on the cheatmenu, items will be listed in order of their id. Then you just go back and forth alt-tabbing until you can see what items the names and id correspond to.
