A tale of shame that leads to an odd "feature"

I was raiding a village last night when I was attacked by a Vaegir lord.
He had the numbers, but a significant number of those were farmers, but I had the better quality troops.
So I charged in thinking my guys (8 mounted companions, 10 swadian Knights and 50 Nord Infantry and 20 Vaegir Archers) who normally push me out of the way to get to a fight, were right behind me.
I didnt bother with commands as this was going to be easy. 
I looked ahead and there were just a bunch of peasants and recruits.
I was mounted on a heavy warhorse and thought I could just plow straight through.
However what I failed to notice was the pitchforks and polearms that stopped my horse in his tracks.
Thinking my guys were right behind me I start laying about with my morning star.
After a few swings I realise I am taking a bit of damage and then comes the realisation that my guys werent right behind, they had circled around some of the buildings and were engaging the vaegir troops towards the back of the village (my usual tactic).
I am now getting desperate as I realise the horse is also taking damage and he isnt pushing through the crowd quickly enough.
I finally make it through the mosh and have a quick check of my health bar and cant see any red for me or the horse, when a stray rock from a peasant beans me in the helmet and I am knocked out. 
Now the reason I am sharing this tale of shame is to ask if anyone has not been able to exit a fight after being knocked out.
I know I could have just asked that question right at the start but I love this game and I love to tell a good story.
My "guys" won the fight and all clustered around my fallen body.
Now they didnt seem to cheer that we had won and I couldnt use backspace to check on the casualty rates so I couldnt see if we had taken everyone out.
When I tried to exit by using tab I get the message there are enemies nearby, I cant retreat.
My guys dont carry on trying to find if there is anyone left.
I on the other hand am furious for getting taken out by peasants and recruits.
After 5 minutes I ctrl alt del to close the game. This wasnt a rage quit or anything like that.

Has anyone ever been so cocky and over confident that this has happened, oh and has anyone never been able to retreat/exit out of a battle?
I am running Diplomacy 3.3.2, with Warband 1.143

This has happened to me in sieges mainly, where i turned it off, but that was with PBOD + diplomacy i think.

If u only got diplomacy try add PBOD, as that might fix it not sure, but i dont got that problem and i think we r using the same mod version + warband version, however i also has PBOD and that battle contiunationer it got might fix it.

If it has only happened once, be happy because then u can replay the fight

Ps: great story, was very exciting --- but next time use commands WHEN IN TROUBLE...but (k)now the feeling,  but that also makes the game so great when **** like that happens

I think cabadrin has fixed the bug in deathcam and it is included in diplomacy+ and diplomacy 4.0

They were probably just embarassed for you.

Yeah, getting knocked out in villages when you have battle continuation usually results in not getting the Battle Won message, so you have to retreat.  Happened to me a couple of times, the guys were cheering but pressing tab was treated as a retreat.  At least I was able to leave the battle scene.

The Diplomacy+ resolved the bug where you couldn't retreat when knocked out, but the village thing is still present.

Bottom line of all this, do not get knocked down at villages
