A suggestion to make night scenes look better.

When it's dark, your vision fades with distance (well, when it's not too)

It can be achieved easily using black fog. But there's another thing that needs to be done to make it not looking like just dark fog:
- The skybox must not be affected by the fog.

It's also useful for day scenes, except the fog has to be approximately the skybox color, and the far fog distance must be greater than the greatest dimension of the scene. It adds quite much depth to the way things look, and is soo easy to code.

sounds good, but are you sure, that it is like that in real life when you got no light sources on you?

Yep, I'm sure, at least if there are some weak external light sources, like stars or the moon, otherwise you are not able to see anything of course. Dispersed light seems weaker to you the further you are from the lit surface.

I'd expect it to produce interesting effects, like, just imagine black silhouettes apearing from behind a hill standing out against the starry sky.

fog also needs to only appear when meshes move though its draw distance, allowing you to see the skybox.
