Send a message to dstemmer. I believe he's working on something behind the scenes. Alas, I've been too busy as of late to contribute anything.

Oh man I can't wait for this mod. Always wanted to go hunting Lannisters with a band of northmen. For Winterfell .

Well, recently I've been fiddling around with Python and trying to develop a Westeros mod by my lonesome. Right now I'm pretty much just waiting for the updated module system however.

I obviously have little right to comment as I can barely make a model in Wings3D let alone script, but I must say it's a shame that an ASOIF mod remains a distant wish still. If ever a game fitted the Song of Ice and Fire theme, it's M&B. Curiously enough, there seems to be no shortage of ASOIF aficionados on these boards. I am thus all the more surprised that no serious effort has really taken off.

Incidentally, I realise full well how easy it is to misinterpret forum posts, so I would just like to point out that I'm have no intention whatsoever of accusing anyone of unproductiveness. If anything, I admire all efforts at trying to create a virtual version of the fascinating world of Westeros.

Might say something about the average demographic of the typical aSoIaF reader, though.  Fairly obviously, I love the series, but never got around to learning much about python.

@ all those modders, who have already done something for an Ice and Fire-Mod

I think it would be a good idea if everyone could release their files, which are usable for an Ice and Fire-Mod, for the other forum-user, After two unsuccessful attempts of making a mod, I think the chance of a playable mod would be higher this way. Surely the names of "file-donators" should appear in the credits of such a mod.
I hope you understand what I mean. Sorry for my bad english.

Right, this isn't actually an announcement for this mod at all, but I'm hoping some good skinners see this.  There is a very promising aSoIaF mod for Medieval2:Total War over at TotalWarCenter, if you want practice skinning, they're always looking for help.  Please?

Gotta link to that mod?

Just to let you know, I am currently working on a large Westeros map.

I finished the color-map state today and have begun refining rivers and coast lines in the map editor.

(EDIT)
Here's the color-map I used to generate the first rough terrain:

Here's an exported color-map of the recent state with all rivers cleaned up.

The next step will be a rough height-map and thereafter I will begin working on the details.

Please let me know if you are still working on scripts, I will then send you my map.txt in regular intervals.

Best regards
~W

(EDIT)
If you want to help making this map as accurate as possible, please collect information about the geography of Westeros from the books. It would be greatly appreciated!

Shouldnt Dorne be more brownish sand-like since it's basically, for most parts, a desert?
Parts of it are, yes.  Also, even at the very start of aGoT, its snowing in the Neck, so extending the snow texture further south might not be a bad idea.

I will soon consider your suggestions when working further on the map. If anyone can provide a nice sand texture, it will be gladly taken. Whilst drawing the North I was wondering too, if there were any references to the land as to being covered with snow, so I sticked to the map I used as a template first.
Maybe you already know it.

Also, I found this nice compendium which also features lots of information about the geography of Westeros:

Thanks for your suggestions, I will keep you informed about the progress.

Best regards
