A Song of Ice and Fire Mod 0.3 for M&B 0.903

I've got a bug for you... I can't save the game.. I don't understand at all why not. I just installed it at the pre-chosen folder and it's all working otherwise..

and I want to know if the names of the cities are still the same or is that another bug? In my game it's Sargoth, not Winterfell...

I don't think towns have been renamed.  Also, did you pick Realistic saving (Can only quit and save, no quit without save)?  Cause I can save...  seems like either you picked Realism by mistake, or it is some kinda bug.

Right, towns have not been renamed.
I suppose too, it's the realistic saving. It can be hardly a bug of the mod (saving is hard coded and should not be affected by any modifications I have done for the mod)

Winterfell's a castle, but there is a sprawling town outside it's walls.  I don't believe the town is walled, however, or if it is I don't remember that being mentioned.  You know it's a town because when Bolton's Bastard came knocking there was a fight going on throughout the city and alleys and such.

I can't remember if the town around Winterfell had it's own name or not.  Wintertown maybe, or just called Winterfell as well.

The thing is, there's only actually about 5 cities (ie population centres first and military second) in all of Westeros...

Congratulations on getting this out BTW, M&B has been a perfect platform for ASoIaF, particularly since we got things like villages and heraldry. Hopefully we'll se a version with a Westeros world-map.

The mapping work is going faster than expected, I´d say I might have something which wouldn´t need more than some polishing ready in 7-10 days. How and where do I post it?

It's just called the Winter Town, you're right. I doubt it entirely surrounds the castle, as that would be a lot harder to defend.

Winterfell, Lannisport, King's Landing, Oldtown, Highgarden, White Harbour, Gulltown are all sizeable cities, while Sunspear, Seagard, Storm's End, Dragonstone, and so on are known to be population centres as well as castles. It would be believable for them to be cities on the map, as opposed to villages.

Well, if I can remember, on one side of Winterfell castle is a sprawling hilly area and forests, so I'm pretty sure Winter Town radiates only from one or two sides of Winterfell (Most likely two sides, since it would mean going toward the castle would be more and more of a choke point because it bottlenecks around the castle, where the enemy should be stuck by moats and the double walls, especially if the main gates are there, meaning no other way in unless you're Ironborn. )

The damn size of thing gives me a severe headache...I can manage a map stretching from Sunspear to Widow´s Watch, why oh why do you want the sandfolks in anyway? Wouldn´t turn down any offers of a helping hand as this is my first serious attempt to modify anything. Please!

That´s it. Map´s all done. It hasn´t been thouroughly tested, and it could do with some polish but preferably by a better scriper than me. A known issue is that some of the lords somehow swapped castles- Smalljon Umber currently resides in the Dreadfort for instance, but that´s one of those things I can´t do much about. Now, where do I post this thing?

Nevermind, it´s all been sent to Gohda. If you chose to upload this map, don´t forget credits to Thorgrim, whose editor made it possible. Cheers laddie!

Great! I feared this mod would die map-less. Hopefully it's long left til it dies though!

Well, didn´t we all? At long last then!

Map opinion:

It needs work.  The basic shape's there, but it need smoothing, hills, mountains, etc.  Mostly just the little work.

BUT, it's a start, and that's what we need.  It will probably need a scripter for some stuff, and it'll need the stuff I mentioned, but it's good for now.

For those who want it!

Wow, that is a pretty good outline of Westeros. A few bridges and streams with some complex curves added in and we've got a mod going!

Well, did what I could whithout a smoothing option which is why there´s no bridges- they just wouldn´t fit nicely over the rivers but rather lay in the water.
The resource for all the vanilla bridges lay currently on one of the iron Islands for any cartorapher to use. The use of most of Arryn as a Baratheon fief is purely for balance issues. Much fun all!
