A simple tweak toward more realistic battles

Cavalry (both melee and distant) is currently unrealistically dominating the battefield even with the nice addition of pike walls. This is notably due to the horses serving as second health pools with no drawbacks. To mitigate this, a simple realistic tweak could be to add fall damage when the horse is killed. This could be stochastic with a chance that the rider would be kill from the fall?
What are your thoughts about it?
